    mixed feelings

This Djerdan is the worst of their 3 locations! Food is OK...but like another reviewer said, it is not like home. The cooks are spanish!!!!! The Queens location has a wonderful Bosnian grandma doing all the cooking. Cevapi is usually really dry at this location. I go for the burek when I am there. Prices are a little high.... almost $3 for Jupi??? and $2 for a CAN of coke??? *Sigh* Again, like another reviewer said, they could do so much more with this place!!!!

    It could be better

I am kind of sad that this is one of the few restaurants in the city that represents the food from the region of former Yugoslavia. The food in Yugoslavia is rustic and simplistic. This is mostly due to plentiful, always locally farmed organic produce as well as fresh meat and dairy products of unparallelled quality. Yugoslav people didn't need to mess with the food too much for it to taste finger lickin' good! Djerdan has lots of the traditional dishes but the quality of food there is NOT the same as back home therefore this type cuisine will have a hard time surviving outside Balkan. The restaurant business is tough but Djerdan needs to invest a little more in a better quality products and cooks if they want their cuisine to take off in the West. They are guaranteed to have profit from other immigrants from former Yugoslavia they are currently catering to (especially young and middle aged men who don't have their moms and wives to cook for them) but if they want to expend they need to work a little bit harder. It can be good but I am not sure that this restaurant is the best representation of the hearty Yugoslav cuisine. The restaurant itself is nice and the staff is exceptionally nice as well.

    I agree about reheating

I go there sometimes as it is very close to my work. I like burek and that's all I ever order. I once ordered chevapi and had a heartburn for two days. My meat was overcooked, borderline burned. My friend also had the mashed potatoes that were completely cold inside. I don't think they have good cooks there at all and am pretty sure they reheat most of the things. Burek is pretty good though. Most of their dishes are very traditional. There's no modern twist on anything and so the traditional gets a little square, boring and blah, at least for me. The wait staff is nice, friendly and professional. The place is clean and the atmosphere is cozy. The music often is very good, groovy, ecclectic and modern. Forgot to mention that beer is cheap! I'll go there again.

This place is not worth anything

The previous reviewer was right saying they reheat the food. My mashed potato was warn on the outside but completely cold on the inside. Moreover, I developed a terrible heartburn...which I usually get after eating bad quality - poorly cooked food. Service was very mediocre. The place was virtually empty on Friday night (2 tables were occupied only). Don't waste your time...and money.

Great place and food, reasonably priced

I am so happy to have discovered this restaurant. I loved the food and the portions were quite hearty. It's a very elegant restaurant and looks very clean. This is a nice and offers a refreshing alternative to the same old sandwich-soup-salad type places one finds all over garment district. My waiter was super helpful and polite and he offered professional service (good professional service is hard to come by these days in NYC - unless you go to super fancy places). I was hungry for a hearty soup and a pastry and he suggested that I try their signature potato roll with bean stew. It was totally delicious.

Do not waste your time and money

I pretty much sure that these guys do not cook anything. They probably just reheat ready-made stuff. We ordered rousted peppers (cold from a jar) with garlic (raw), grilled Bulgarian feta cheese (I would say slightly heated), burek (eatable, but I suspect prepared in a different place and reheated there), and stuffed cabbage (go for a real thing in any Ukrainian place Downtown). The only good thing there was $ 5 beer.
