Don't order the Pizza or Mussels
We sat outside on a nice spring night and ordered our drinks and put an order in for mussels in red sauce. The mussels tasted fishy and old. They were soggy like they were left in the sauce simmering for hours and the sauce was bland and tasteless. My entree of Margherita Pizza came out..I was expecting a nice Italian crust with fresh tomatoes and fresh basil, boy was I wrong! I've NEVER seen a pizza like this in my life! The "pizza" came out on a bowl/plate UNCUT and the crust was bright orange. It had a few chopped up salad looking tomatoes with dried basil sprinkled on top. I sent it back and asked for the check. Also I asked about the crab cake for an appetizer and the server honestly said they are frozen and all breading and not to get them. If you do decide to go, I would just get the pasta. It's something the hopefully can't mess up!

Excellent food & great service
I've been ordering from Divino for 20 years and have never had a bad experience. It's the only place I've ordered from where the food has been consistently excellent, the staff is friendly and everything arrives exactly as ordered. We've tried everything, chicken, fish, shrimp, salads, pasta, veggies, deserts, and they give you more food for the price than other Italian restaurants in the neighborhood.

bad manners
I'm not mad, but totally disapointed in this restaurant. Have been going for years and never had a complaint before. Ordered a drink and it got spilled right away. The waiter said nothing, no offer for a refill. When I saw it on the bill, asked for the manager, she said." the only thing I can do is give you a raincheck"Are you kidding? Have you ever heard of that? I didn't take it because I will never go back there again. they lost a customer over a lousy $8. They probably needed it more than I did. Even if you spill your soda in a movie theather, they would give you a refill for nothing.

consistently good
We like the food here- the stuffed mushrooms are exquisite, the pasta dishes are all delicious. Love the ricotta cheesecake. The prices are reasonable and the people working there could not be nicer or more accomodating. We have been to other places in the neighborhood and always return to Divino's.

avoid
We went on July 31st at night and had a restaurant.com certificate. This is a $25 off certificate you buy in advance for $10 for a specific restaurant and they have been used at Divino for years and are used all over the city. Our dinner food was ok. The waiter was rude, and we had to repeatedly ask for our waters to be filled. They had live music with random people in the restaurant singing, like karaoke. I'd prefer not to have karaoke. Anyway, I presented the coupon. The women went on for 10 min about how they changed the agreement with restaurant.com and it can no longer be used on a fri or sat. I showed her the agreement I had bought, from a year ago, with no expiration, the one I bought is good on Saturday night, and she didn't care. She went on and on and whenever I tried to stop her from talking (it was painful to hear over and over), she would say "I am trying to help you." I finally asked how she was trying to help and she said by explaining it. I said that helping would be honoring the certificate. I asked her her name and she replied “I don’t have a name.” I said, “Oh my God, are you not going to tell me your name?” She walked away. Then I asked a waiter her name and she pulled him away. Then she returned to the table and said “My name is ____ and you are the rude one!” My husband and I were in shock. We eat at Italian restaurants all over the UES and there is not karaoke, they do fill your water, and the people working are not crazy. We will never go back and my husband told his work never to go back.

Not the best...
I went to Divino's with a group of other families and we had a set menu at a fixed price. Firstly, the restaurant was way too crowded, we were sitting almost on top of each other. We got one piece of appitizer. each from the different plates. (4 in total) and we had to ask for bread a few time as there was so many of us at the table. We did not have any one waiter/waitress assigned to our table, they were all over the place. It looked like there was no one in charge. The entree was plainly presented nothing special, siimilar to what you would present at home, if you prepared dinner. The dessert was to beg for... We got two plates of butter cookies and two or three pastries on each. We were charged over 18% tip which is the norm in NYC as I had more than 6 at my table. If you want good service and good food and of course like dessert don't plan your dining experience at Divino's on 2nd Avenue.

Don't go
The food was microwaved and overpriced. The decor was straight from a church assembly hall and the seats at Hylands Diner are more comfortable. When pinot was ordered the waiter made sure to know which one (noir or grigio) but brought the wrong one anyway. The avocado and chick peas were the "highlights" of the meal but they needed little preparation, how hard is it to peel and slice an avocado? Not very, that's why it tasted good. A trip to the grocery store to buy Lean Cuisine ravioli, mozzarella cheese, and chick peas is better than eating at Divino and will cost you about $50 less.
