    worst delivery service in manhattan

i am done ordering from Dishes. Although I enjoy the food the 2+ hour wait for delivery is just beyond reasonable or acceptable.

    Food Wasters!

Wanting to try a new dish at the salad bar, which had been pre-cut into very large pieces, I sliced a piece of whatever-it-was in half (very cleanly with a spatula). Before I could lift the half to my plate, a very surly young waitperson came up behind me and said I couldn't do that and took both halves back into the kitchen! I was speechless! The dish was sliced into pieces large enough to be considered lunch in themselves! It seems they would rather waste an entire portion than even consider the possibility that someone else might want the other half (which happens all the time at the other Dishes location and at other salad bars). I LOVE the food at Dishes and have eaten at the 45th St. location many times (and customers there cut portions all the time). But my first time at this particular location had me seething.

    Expensive, good quality, takeout only.

The food from the help yourself salad bar is very good! The quality of the food is much better than the usual manhattan salad bars. It's also not very greasy! Lunch time is a bear the line is out the door. Do take out during lunch hours. The design of the restaurant is narrow and there is a slim pickens of tables and chairs to sit down and eat. It's a bit expensive, but you get what you pay for...

    Don't order for delivery

While the food here is better than most places that are similar in this area, they have an insane wait for delivery. I'm 1.5 blocks up at 55th and Park and it takes them at least 75 minutes to bring soup and veggies. I know I could walk over there and grab it, but some days get so hectic it's hard to step away. Don't ever order when you're hungry. Malnutrition will set in before your grub arrives.

    Dishes Calls Me A Liar

I placed an outgoing order for delivery today with Dishes. Spent about $72.00. Ordered 2 bags of Cape Cod Chips. No chips. Called them back (the location at 54th Street) and they said they would send them. They then called me back and said their packer insisted they put the chips in the bag. I told them I double-checked (which I did) and there were no chips. At this point, I feel as if they're calling me a liar (for $3.00!). They said they would send them. Bottome Line: I'm still waiting. This is a poor way to do business!

nice design, poor layout & top$ 4 lunch

People - be ready to spend more than any other location 4 lunch to go, can eat in only after lunch rush hour say 1pm and later, if before - take it to go. food is ok, the service is ok, just ok. food is bettter than others no doubt however no significant reason to be so expensive. good salads, clean with nice design however bad layout, I bet they had no idea how to think it well. If I will go back, it will be after 1pm and only after the owner will lower all prices.

    Bored of midtown lunches?

After a year in mid-town I have grown tired of the same deli sandwiches every day - and there are only so many times I can eat Rafikis in a month... so needless to say I was very pleased when Dishes opened in our neighborhood. It is more expensive than Azure and PAX but the food and the sandwiches are better quality. If you have a sweet tooth (guilty here) then you'll love their deserts. If you like chicken but are tired of grilled, the coconut and fried chicken fingers are a great sub. They have fresh fresh vegies; if you worry about preservatives you may check ingredients first. (ask at the counter) Like any place in midtown - go before the rush - 11:50 should buy you the right amount of time. Seating is limited - grab it to go. Try everything you see! It's GREAT! The place is super bright and clean. The presentation is beautiful. The food is wonderful. Thanks Dishes for coming to a neighborhood near us!
