The food is delicious. Brussels sprout is fantastic...Too bad it's hardly on the menu, even in season. Unfortunately, delivery time has taken up to two hours on more than one occasion. If you don't have the time, move on...

This tiny storefront place is a branch of a New Orleans joint of the same name - a counter, a couple of stools and high tables, kitchen in constant motion filling takeout & delivery orders. But the fried chicken (with cornbread & hot peppers in vinegar) is the best I've found in the Village (and south Chelsea, too), at a decent price, and the counter folks are friendly when they're not struggling to keep up with the orders. Good rotisserie chicken, too.

I called and placed an order for a chopped salad and quarter rotisserie chicken on the side. After 2 phone calls to follow up with no definite ETA I decide to just head out and pick something else up. As I leave my building at 10:30pm starving the delivery man meets me at the door an hour and a half after placing the order. Long story short I pay, tip generously like an idiot and when I open the salad I realize there is only one yes 1 cornbread crouton in the entire salad which is the highlighting garnish. I call back for a third time to bring this to Dirty Bird's attention And some guy on the phone says yeah we ran out. Your salad was the last to get a crouton. "Geez thanks for the lone crouton"...you had over an hour to give me a heads up.

The smashed potatoes, kale, mac & cheez, off the hook. The chopped salad is always good and fresh.

Jalapeño vinegar?? I ignored it the first time I ordered in, and loved chicken, cookies, coffee, side. The next time I loved chicken, not so much the side (different) and coffee (not fresh, as it was before). The third time I tried the chicken with vinegar. C'est Magnifique!

We order from here frequently. On a weekday between 1 and 6 PM, you can get fresh, properly cooked wholesome chicken. But on Sundays, as I learned AGAIN, just now you often get small, what seems likes old, overcooked, and burned fried chicken. Truly horrible, considering how good Dirty Bird can be. We just got a four piece fried chicken and paid for an extra breast. What we go was one over cooked breast, one small burnt thigh and two tiny burned brown wings. It seemed like yesterdays chicken, thrown back in the fryer. Not Cool Dirty Bird! Not Cool At All. Be consistent. And Respect Your Customers.

I don't really understand the negative reviews on here. I order Dirty Bird fried chicken for delivery at least once a week and would order it more often if I weren't concerned about calories, cholesteral and so forth. The pieces are small, so it is not really such great value, but this crunchy, tasty fried chicken never fails to satisfy me. Several of their sides -- such as the tasty (somewhat healthy) garlic kale, rocking smashed potatoes, and a sublime mac'n'cheese that is among the best I have ever had -- also make this my #1 "go to" joint for delivery. Delivery usually runs smoothly, with efficient phone staff and correct orders being delivered by pleasant guys within 15 or 20 minutes. Hmmm, wouldn't mind some right now!
