    My Favorite

I went to college in the Syracuse area where the original Dinosaur bbq is located and was ecstatic when I heard they were finally opening one in NYC. Hell, myself and a few college friends had reservations for opening night. This is my favorite bbq restaurant in NYC if not everywhere. The food is great and there is quite a variety to choose from. I definitely recomend the "Drunken Spicy Shameless Shrimp". You can order it as an app or an entree. The ribs are always tender and juicey and the sides are excellent. The service isn't always top notch but you have to keep in mind that the original is a biker bar/blues joint and this one is set up along the same lines. They do bring a fun atmosphere to the place though. The location is somewhat out of the way but well worth the trip. I definitely recomend trying this place if you haven't already. You will be back for more.

    Off the beaten path

Its off the beaten path, but totally worth it. I lived on the UWS for a while and never went there until I moved to UES and somebody turned me on to it, boy was I sorry I missed it for so long. Just a cool place to be with good home cooking. Take a lot of people a cab and a big stomach. My suggestion is don't get what you always get, things can surprise you there, oh and the mac a cheese, it does need work, no southerner eats it like that that I know of and I grew up in the south.

    Great Ribs

The ribs here fell off the bone with the tap of a finger. Unbelievably juicy. Best I've had. Great beer selection. The Mac-and-Cheese could use work in my opinion but the greens (although vegetarian) are great. Awesome barbecued beans also. I'd highly recommend for a real BBQ connoisseur.

    Awesome Place

The food at this place is awesome. First time I got a burger, which was pretty darn good, though not the best I've had. Then I tried the chicken, and let me tell you, it's really out of this world- incredibly juicy, and slathered with delicious barbeque sauce. I had it with corn bread, mac n' cheese, and fries- which were all top notch. The picnic benches outside are a nice touch. Great atmosphere, great food, and a nice bar too.

    Favorite Restaurant

This joint probably has the best food ive ever had..whether it is italian, chinese, or anything. Their "Ode to Elgin" platter is unreal and if i you are to go there i would recommend the ribs and brisket (drenched in the sauce). On a side note, the sauce is amazing and i keep bottles in my home to put on all of my food. Please try this place, it will be the best decision of your life

    Ignore the bad reviews

I'm not a southerner, but I've been to texas, the carolinas, and louisiana and had BBQ in all three places. While dinosaur is not the best BBQ in the world, it's better than Acme, brother jimmy's and smoke (IMHO). The ribs are always superb and the sides are always excellent, especially the salt potatoes and collards (which are meat free!). The beef brisket and pulled pork are also very good. I've never had tough meat there! The chicken wings are in the running for best on the east coast. 20+ beers on tap, a cavernous space, and a great atmosphere more than make up for the noise and occasional spotty service. But for god's sake, it's a BBQ joint, don't expect four-seasons service. It's also REALLY popular, esp with locals and the columbia crowd so sometimes tables are in high demand... All in all I think the negative reviews are from people who've heard too much hype but the fact of the matter is this is a very unusual-for-new-york type of place with really good food.

    Subpar Service

After a nice meal, of multiple drinks each, appetizers, entrees, and dessert, the manager came up to our table and said "we have this table reserved for another party in 4 minutes." He then proceeded to stand and watch us until we got up and left. Though he could have nicely asked us to leave, or mentioned that he really needed the table, or thanked us for our patronage, he chose instead to treat us as though we were second class. We were not rude, we had more than purchased enough food/drinks, and other tables in the area had been sitting for longer than us. This was the worst I have ever been treated at a restaurant in NYC. I will not return, nor will I recommend it to any of my friends.
