So, I was on this quest to get really great wings in NY and looked everywhere on the internet. A bunch of sites listed Dinosaur and I thought, "is it really possible for wings to be that good?" Turns out, it is. Totally worth it. Not too expensive. The super hot wings are actually super hot. So full from wings I didn't even touch my main course.

    Fab food, great beer selection

I'm from Georgia originally but have been a frequent guest at Dino in the 4 years I've lived in the city. It's still the best BBQ I've had in the city and I bring all my picky relatives when they come to visit. Don't waste your time on overpriced stuff in times square. It's worth making the trip to Harlem for the amazing chicken wings (they're huge!) fried green tomatoes, devilled eggs, and Rogue Dead Guy on tap. Be prepared to wait, even if you have reservations, especially on sunday afternoon! The live music if great, but is sometimes a little loud.

BBQ that stands out from the crowd

Im a big BBQ fan. I've lived in NYC for a long time and been to all the BBQ spots. From Blue Smoke to RUB, I've had them all. This place stands alone as the best. I was skeptical about the haul up to W.131st, but its certainly worth it. The sauces were great. The sides were great. But what made Dinosaur stand out from the rest of the BBQ spots was the quality of the meat. I have never enjoyed such large and tender ribs and chicken anywhere. Each rib was a meal in itself. Downright delicious all around. Be prepared to wait if you go on a weekend without a reservation. The great bar area and stellar draft beer selection makes the time fly by. They do take reservations 2 weeks ahead if needed. Go and enjoy!

    My Favorite

I went to college in the Syracuse area where the original Dinosaur bbq is located and was ecstatic when I heard they were finally opening one in NYC. Hell, myself and a few college friends had reservations for opening night. This is my favorite bbq restaurant in NYC if not everywhere. The food is great and there is quite a variety to choose from. I definitely recomend the "Drunken Spicy Shameless Shrimp". You can order it as an app or an entree. The ribs are always tender and juicey and the sides are excellent. The service isn't always top notch but you have to keep in mind that the original is a biker bar/blues joint and this one is set up along the same lines. They do bring a fun atmosphere to the place though. The location is somewhat out of the way but well worth the trip. I definitely recomend trying this place if you haven't already. You will be back for more.

    Off the beaten path

Its off the beaten path, but totally worth it. I lived on the UWS for a while and never went there until I moved to UES and somebody turned me on to it, boy was I sorry I missed it for so long. Just a cool place to be with good home cooking. Take a lot of people a cab and a big stomach. My suggestion is don't get what you always get, things can surprise you there, oh and the mac a cheese, it does need work, no southerner eats it like that that I know of and I grew up in the south.

    Great Ribs

The ribs here fell off the bone with the tap of a finger. Unbelievably juicy. Best I've had. Great beer selection. The Mac-and-Cheese could use work in my opinion but the greens (although vegetarian) are great. Awesome barbecued beans also. I'd highly recommend for a real BBQ connoisseur.
