Just as good as the original!

The original Dinosaur is in Syracuse, NY. Being an alum of SU I can say that NYC's Dino is right up there with the original! Here are some of my suggestions: Food: Try the Ribs, "Big Ass" Pork Plate, Drunken Shrimp, Chili. For sides, try the simmered greens, Syracuse-style salt potatoes, coleslaw, and chili (ask nicely, they'll give it to you as a side). Crave the heat? Make sure you add Dinosaur's Wango Tango habenero bbq sauce! Drink: Get the true Syracuse experience by adding a Syracuse IPA, Ithaca Nut Brown, or Dinosaur's own brew! Ambiance: If you've never been to the original, you may think the decor is a little strange. But it is totally in accordance with the original, right down to the bathroom graffiti art added by patrons. It may be different, but just because you don't get it doesn't mean it's wrong! Tips: go for lunch during the week or make reservations for dinner on OpenTable.com. If you walk in on a busy dinner service, be willing to sit in the bar area--there is often a shorter wait. Love the sauces? Get your own bottle at the take-out counter!

One of the best on the island

Living on the west side you get acustom to having great food at your finger tips, but Dinosaur BBQ beats them all hands down. The ribs are perfection and the brisket ain't bad either. The only down side of the place is how crowded it gets on any given night, but I was always taught to never eat at an empty resturant, so this isn't a horribal thing. So if you love barbeque, beer, and intresting wall art then this place is for you. And if you don't like that stuff, go anyways just to check it out. Dinosaur just might suprise you.

Best BBQ in NYC, Maybe Anywhere

There really aren't words to describe how delicious Dinosaur is. I live just a few block away and have been many, many times. It has *never* been a disappointment. If you like BBQ, you can't really consider your life complete until you've been here. I always bring new people and I have *never* heard a bad review.

Long Lunch Trip but worth the time

I work in the upper east side near 59th street, So after seeing a piece on tv -- "After Hours With Daniel", I wanted to try the BBQ. BEST DAMN chicken wings I have ever had.. Trouble with chicken wings is that every place you go they are gooped in some kind of sauce and they usally are not spicey.. The wings were Great, dry little sauce easy to eat.. and Thank god they have 23 beers on tap cause with the devile wings you need em. 1/2 Rack was meaty and flavorfull I'll be going back..!!

    Amazing Wings

Ok, ive been on a BBQ kick for almost a year now and i keep going back to Dinosaur BBQ because its really the best around. It might not be that convienent for some to get there but the trip is SO worth it. Food is always great, hot , fresh and comes out quick. They also have some great microbrews on tap. I would suggest a reservation almost every night, on a weekend you can wait 2 hours for a table. Im eat there several times a month and everyone that i bring there loves it.

    Loved it, felt like home.

I loved this place. I'm from the deep south and know good BBQ. This place was so great, the ribs and the mac and cheese were awesome. They also have beer flights, which is a plus. I'm sorry, but who goes to a BBQ place and gets brisket and fries. Idiot, get the mashed potatoes, ribs and collard greens.

    My favorite restaurant

This is my favorite restaurant, any price range. Period. Every person I bring has a great time and good food (full disclosure, I've never brought a vegan). I've read some bad reviews out there, and all I can say is there is just something about bbq (and chili) that causes certain folks to talk about ribs like a communist dictator - I just don't understand it. This place is fun, has no attitude, has delicious food, doesn't break my wallet, and is just as good or better than any other bbq place I've been to in middle America. Young old rich poor, it's a great place. And where else can you bring home a growler full of beer in manhattan?
