    Do'in it Syracuse Style

While the waitresses aren't the Biker babes from Syracuse, the food is always awesome at the DBQ. For your first meal, you must have the following: Apps: Druken Shameless Shrimp, Wings, Fried Green Tomatoes, and the Sausage Link. Dinner: Have the Beef Brisket Sandwich with Melted Swiss. You get 2 sides...Have the BBQ Beans and the Fries. Desset: Choc. Pudding Pie! (When in Syracuse..Have the Rice Pudding...THE BEST!)

Tried Dinosaur for the first time today and food was phenomenal, one of the best BBQ restaurants in NYC. Left very full with a whole meal left to take home. Servings are huge and service was great, very friendly.

    Friendly and fun

My fiancee surprised me with our first trip to Dinosaur BBQ last night, and we had a truly wonderful time. I was slightly put off when we were seated 15 minutes late for our reservation (despite arriving 30 minutes early), but the hostess was very friendly and seemed to be handling the large Friday night crowd well. Our waitress was phenomenal - friendly, knowledgeable, and extremely attentive. She was always there with more sweet tea, napkins, or anything else we needed without being overbearing. My fiancee and I split the swag sampler, the tres hombre (we got mac n' cheese and salted potatoes for sides), and the chocolate peanut butter pie (definitely save room for dessert!). Everything was delicious and well-priced. The atmosphere was fun but loud given the size of the restaurant and the weekend night. However, we didn't have any trouble conversing at our table. Overall, we left full and very happy.

    Don't believe the hype

The restuarant has a steady following and is well acclaimed through the food network hype but the food is not that great! While the appetizers of shrimp boil and chicken wings were delicious!!! However, my entree of ribs with collard greens and bbq beans was mediocre. The ribs were dry and the sides had the same seasoning as the shrimp boil....truly undelightful! I did wash it down with their delicious sweet tea.My friend had the Korean BBQ ribs which were tasty, but not spectular. The service was subpar....Overall, its not worth the hype!!!

Lip smacking, smack dabbing, diggidy bbq

Ok, so we heard all the same things you've heard about Dinosaur. We needed to check it out for ourselves. The bartenders and servers know their restaurant. The beer is crazy good here, so start off with that. Ask for suggestions if you are a rookie (try the "war" beer..you will be so happy you did). Our friend had a bloody mary, and that was top shelf as well. We started with wings and the iceberg salad for starters. I had heard the wings were the best, and as they were extremely tasty (and quite hot), they certainly were not thee best I've had. Coming from Chicago, we're spoiled with our Buffalo Joes in Evanston for wings, and Gail Street Inn for ribs. However, they came out quickly, and were a good way to start the meal. We then dug in to what we came for, the pork. I ordered the pulled pork with cole slaw sammy, and doused that business with the bbq sauce that was tableside. My fiance ordered the brisket sammy and that was great too. Tender and super tasty, and I'm used to the jewish mother brisket, so I'm picky...but this was dead serious brisket. These guys know what they're doing. The sides were pretty damn good too, mac and cheese and the salty potatoes for me. The mac and cheese was a must have. Again, this wasn't thee best bbq meal I've ever eaten, but it was damn tasty. From the beer selection, to the atmosphere, to the location (great "getaway"), to the pulled pork, and mac and cheese, we will definitely be revisiting Dinosaur again soon. It seems like the perfect place to take out of town guests too. Much better than R.U.B, in my opinion. Blue Smoke is great too, but for something a little more down home and chill, Dino is the way to fly.

    Dinosaur Rocks

I have been eating Dinosaur since attending Syracuse, where the original one is located.....best darn food you are goign to get in Mahattan for the price. Amazing wings! The pulled pork, mac and cheese, salt potatoes and BBQ fried rice are great. Make reservations a week ahead of time b/c it is always packed. Their catering service is excellent as well. Always have a great time and amazing food!!
