    Close This Place Down

This establishment has to be the poorest in NYC, given the amount of money they've put into decorating this place. And it's sad because the west side Diablo Royale is a decent spot with respectable service (not the greatest, but good enough). But Diablo Royale "Este"? This Reste-raunt needs a complete service overhaul. Their Bloody Mary's by the way, are practically V8's out the bottle with a bit of tabasco. Nevermind the fact that my table of 6 having Sunday brunch waited about 25 minutes for the drinks to arrive. Oh, and when I told the server that the bloody mary's were off he shot back with "no one's ever said that to us before," implying that it was me... uh, lose the attitude. He then walked away to a table filled with his friends all smiley-faced and 'haw haw haw'ing it up. This place is trash. I'll never return, and I hope any of the readers reading reviews here never set foot in this place.

    Do not be tempted

I read the reviews about bad service, cold food, surly staff and decided to go anyway. I figured people who wrote that were just angry about something. I thought, "surely that won't happen to us." But it did. I encourage you to not make the same mistake. We waiting forever for chips. Then waited forever for our waiter. Then waited forever for drinks. Then waited forever for food. It finally came, one person's meal at a time, and every single person's food was COLD. Stone Cold. If you're going to bring them one at a time, at least bring them while they are hot! They offered to buy our drinks as an apology, but then brought the bill with the drinks on it and even some food items on it that we didn't even order. Seriously, save yourself the pain and do not try to eat here. It's not worth it.

    Fail

    - Arrived on time for our reservation, but had to wait 30 mins to be seated at table that could barely fit half of us. - Took our "server' and I use the term loosely about 15 mins to return w.glasses so we could have a much needed drink - Food took FOREVER to arrive. We had to ask multiple times for chips to hold us over. They finally returned w.one tiny pail for our large party. - When the food finally did arrive it was not what we had ordered. At least the food was tasty and at least it was warm, but at this point, all we could do was laugh about it. Staff is polite even if they have NO idea whats going on. So basically, unless you're not really hungry and have a good sense of humor don't bother with this place...

    Got it together

The food here has gotten much better. The tacos are different and very tasty. Pork Belly BLT taco, and mexi-meatball taco are amazing and different, given that there are a million traditional Mexican places everywhere. Plus, the women and the decor are extremely sexy. A definite must-try!

    wow.

In three and a half years of religiously checking menupages before ever visiting a restaurant i have never felt compelled to contribute. So I can say this was the most compelling dining experience I've had in my time in NYC -- unfortunately not in a good way. So here it goes... Tuesday: We made a rez for 5 at the Diablo Royale Este location. Thursday: Called to change it to 6 and they had no record of our rez. No big deal, put 6 down for 12:30 brunch (at the Este location -- very clear on that point). Sunday, 12:30: Arrive at Diablo Royale Este for brunch and it is CLOSED. They don't serve brunch. We call, someone tells us they have "no idea why they are closed!", and someone else tells us we can come to the West Village location. Ooook... $20 later in cab fare, the 6 of us arrive on the other side of town. 12:50: After arriving they inform us they did not have ANYONE'S reservations for brunch that day and ask us to wait a few minutes. Question -- if you work at a restaurant that takes reservations and you have NONE for a Sunday brunch... would you maybe think something was wrong? And how does that even happen? Whatever, fine, we wait, we are later seated. 1:05: Our waiter is an idiot. 1:06: We order drinks and food... we sit.... and we finish our drinks.... and we wait.... and wait.... still waiting... after 45 minutes we GET UP and ask our waiter for more drinks and to please check on the food. Our waiter's response is "oh, you should have told me you wanted more drinks". Seriously? 1:55: We wait. 2:10: Still waiting. 2:15: After over an hour we ask for the manager. 2:25: One hour and twenty minutes later -- 4 of our 5 meals come out. All cold. I'm sorry, I shouldn't exaggerate -- I'll go with lukewarm to cold. 2:26: Manager arrives, we try to be nice, and she is nice at least... see offers to comp the meal. 2:40: We get the 5th meal, it's hot, since they obviously just made this one. 2:30-3:00pm: we eat, ask multiple times for drinks, and really appreciate our waiter's "this is all no big deal" attitude. Oh, and possibly my favorite part was when the bus boy waved his hand in my face because I was looking the other way and he wanted to clear my plate. Finally, at 3:05pm we leave the brunch after two and half hours of ridiculousness. It was free, great, but I would have honestly paid the $25 to avoid the hassle and have an hour or more of my life back.

    No good

The food was either cold or generally low quality. Out of three people nobody really liked this place.

    Decent food

Went to Diablo Royale on Sat night and was dissapointed to find no DJ that was there on opening night. What happened? He was great and played classic 80's music videos but when we go there no such luck. We stayed anyway and had a horrible waitress who not only brought us the wrong food but it was cold when it got there! Very dissapointing and wont be back soon.
