    Expensive ketchup

This $60 tasting menu was offensive in both relative terms and absolute terms. they actually served me 2 dishes cauliflower manchurian and some eggplant deal where the sauce was pure unadulterated ketchup.

    Unusual but too expensive

Great decor, attentive wait staff (perhaps too attentive,,,one individual took away an almost empty cocktail that we'd paid $12 for). Food was unusual but good. My friend and I tried the tasting menus. One took the vegetarian and the other the non-vegetarian. Their manchurian cauliflower seemed to be dunked in ketchup...not even close to what it should have been. Food is too pricey. Good to try but not to go back unless you enjoy feeling the hole in your pocket!

Being an Asian very much familliar with Indian food I found this restaurant to offer Americanised version of Indian food. The result was a lack of originality. For example the stir fry paneer had more gram flour in it than paneer. The portions were small and the prices expensive. Eventhough it might offer some insight into Indian food for someone who have never had it, it is a place best avoided if you want to taste 'real' Indian food. The atmosphere is good. But remember it doesn't fill your tummy! Service was okay and nothing great to distinguish with other classy places.

    Best Atmosphere, Subpar food

I hunted down this indian restaurant thinking it would be great indian gourmet food for a special evening. The atmosphere is wonderful, and I really haven't seen a prettier ethnic restaurant in the city. But, and this is a huge BUT...if you have ever eaten authentic Indian food- this is the most westernized Indian food in the city. And ontop of that it's overpriced and the portions are miniscule. We ate the samosas for apps, which are alright, but tiny and ony 3 came and the sauces were not spicy enough. The tandoori lamb stuffed app was alright for flavor but was served cold. The chicken curry (one of the few curries on the menu-which is amazingly strange for an indian restaurant) was bland, eventhough we asked for extra spicy. The naan was decent, but with the watery daal and all the rest it didn't seem to make up for anything. The ONE unique dish was the fried okra salad, which was quite good and innovative. Ontop of this all- the service was sub-par, which is not what I expect at a restaurant where the bills for 2ppl range high above $100. Take this review with a grain of salt, perhaps your food will be slightly tastier and your service might be more attentive. But I'm sure for Indian food, you can do better.

    Sophisticated Indian

The sort of Indian restaurant to which I would (and have) taken Indian friends, knowing the meal would be memorable for everyone at the table.

Not recommended for the food or value

The chicken was dry, lamb was undercooked and overall the prices were through the roof. We have no problem paying $$ for good food but when it comes to high quality food, skip this place.

Did you go to the same restaurant!?

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, and perhaps Devi was having a bad night when anonymous wrote their review on 7/17 - but i would like to point out neither my boyfriend or i are a 'novice' - infact my Boyfriend is Indian and am English and have eaten at many Indian restaurants of all levels ....and Devi still is one at the top of our list. We have also recommended our Indian friends try Devi and they were also very impressed with the whole dining experience.
