Fantastic
The staff, and ambiance, were great - the food was fantastic!

Will not be repeated
The decorations and service were great. The food left much to be desired. We liked one of the appetizers, but felt like it would be easy to replicate at home. One entree was okay, the other was not. I don't know if the chef accidentally put turmeric in twice or thrice but that was all that you could smell or taste. For the prices charged, one wouldn't expect such mistakes.

Too Many Rupees
The chefs, originally at Amma, seem to have lost their touch. Many of the entrees were no better than neighborhood Indian restaurants...or 6th Street! The sauces for dishes like the turkey keema were quite oily. Too expensive for what it is.

Almost Excellent
Everyone in my party had an excellent time - service was knowledgeable, friendly, and attentive. The food was of a really excellent quality and my only complaint is that it was a bit too spiced (and I love 'heat') - keep the flavors, but take the heat down just a bit on the entrees. The space was pretty but could've been a bit more luxurious and/or lush (but maybe I'm just spoiled by spice market's decor). And this is picky but the menus were just slips of paper - for the price being charged (and justified by the food), the menus should be a bit more thoughtful since they are part of the experience. Ditto for the wine list which was sparse.

Excellent Indian!
The menu is similar to Amma (Midtown), but trendier and the cocktails are excellent! We had the tasting menu for $55 and all of it was spectacular. The 7-course menu is well selected and prepared beautifully. Probably the best Indian restaurant in NYC!

Great experience
Went to check out this new highly touted restaurant-- all of our high expectations were met. We liked the atmosphere-- food was fantastic, though in small proportions relative to other indian restaurants in the city. Service was also great. While you may be able to get better (and more) food at some other indian joints in the city, for a new trendy restaurant, this can't be beat. Great Kulfi.
