My family was not sure what to expect from Deux Amis, having previously read the other reviews here, but we loved it! The staff was welcoming, polite, and very attentive, checking often to see if we needed more water/bread/asking if there were any problems. The salade verte was fresh and not over dressed as so many restaurants tend to treat their salads. My boeuf bourguignon was divine, the beef melt-in-your-mouth tender; my mother's coq au vin was also excellent, and my father thoroughly enjoyed his steak au poivre. The portions were perfectly sized, though not the typical double or triple sized American portions, but as we could not have taken excess food with us, we did not find this problematic. All the food seemed very fresh, came out quickly and piping hot, and the wine glasses were very generously filled (and with good quality pinot grigio to boot). We had an extremely pleasant experience dining here and would most certainly eat at Deux Amis again.

Four of us had dinner on Friday evening. As noted in other reviews, the tables are too small for four people, and too close to each other. The food was excellent, served nicely and quietly. The wine list is very small and could definitely be improved. I poured our own wine, as our waitress never offered to refill our wine glasses. Our souffles needed an extra 5-10 minutes in the over, but was still good. We will give this restaurant one more chance, at which time I will offer another review.

I have been going here for years and I have to say the hosts and the staf are about the nicest in the city. The food is usually solid ,sometime quite good, but often you casn get a real clincker. This often happens by the kitchen using either tiny, tiny portions or simply cooking food that is just too old, and thinking it will pass with a sauce poured over it. I think someone here has to keep a better eye on the kitchen it is clear they are trying to cut corners where thery can. My advise is go, but really ask the staff as to what is the freshest. Deux Ami is a really pleasant place for a decent dinner but be careful what you select.

Went there on a Saturday night for dinner with my girlfriend and left somewhat satisfied. The room is nicely decorated but is a bit cramped. Great selection at the bar, but the wine list is limited. Had the steak au poivre, and was not impressed - very little pepper, bland sauce and a merely adequate cut of steak made for a meh dinner. Her lamb stew, however, was cooked to perfection and the accompanying risotto was stellar. The good service and cozy room helped moderate my disappointment, and it might be worth another visit.

I've eaten at Deux Amis countless times and never once have I been disappointed. Food is fine, service is attentive without being pushy, atmosphere is relaxed and happy, and the prices are reasonable. What more could anyone want? It is wonderful to have right around the corner.

The roasted chicken is good, but if you're ever there when they have calf liver, go for it. It's the best that I have ever had-thin, a bit on the rare side with a delicious sauce. I love the atmosphere in the restaurant. It seems so much like Paris. Bucky, the owner is great-get to know him and you'll enjoy the restaurant even better. I always manage to meet interesting people there. The convival atmosphere makes people want to be extra friendly.

Had dinner there recently. The tables are very close together and the noise level was unbearable. It was difficult to carry on a conversation. The food and service were fine but the overall dining experience was not pleasant and we will not be returning.
