    What a delightful discovery!

My wife and I spent this beautiful sunny spring day in the park, and I decided to walk over to Der Komissar to check out a little beer and wurst action fir dinner. I am so glad we did! We had the 5x combo plate, which was five sausages and 5 sides. We had the bratwurst (homemade), the kasekreiner, the leberkase, some landjaeger and some brisket. All of the meats were very authentic, and tasted fantastic. The bratwurst was probably the best I've ever had in NYC. The outside patio in the back was open and we ate outside (first day since last summer we could do this) and I washed it down with a couple of large glasses of schwarzebier. Very nice beer selection on tap, and the sides we ordered (sauerkraut, which was red cabbage, potato salad, pickles, pretzel, liptauer, and cucumber salad) were all fresh, seemed homemade, and were wonderful. This is a very casual beer-bar eatery, and I cannot recommend it highly enough. It is easy on the wallet, and the barmaid was attentive and very nice, as was the cook (maybe owner?) when we spoke. Worth the schlep to Park Slope - it is my current favorite beer und wurst haus.

    Really great spot!

My husband and I decided to try out der kommissar last night on a whim. We sat at the bar and had a laugh that the barstools were just like the ones in our old art school- and just as comfy! The bartender was chill and attentive, and I got one of the best beers I've ever had. My husband doesn't drink, and our bartender kept his glass full of club soda the whole dinner. I am so happy that they had vegetarian sausages, and they were delicious. I'm quite sure their meat would have been amazing too. The special got us three sausages with a bunch of sides and don't skip the pretzel and cheese spread, it's amazing. I loved everything from the food, the sauces, the bar, the paintings on the walls and the slow mosaic of beer bottle caps taking shape. this place is fun and endearing. I have nothing bad to say. Go there!! You will love it too.

    Best sausage I've ever had

Only been in once but definitely planning to go back. Tried a few different sausages, some stuffed with cheese and they were amazing! They have vegan and vegetarian sausage too. Nice beer selection. Bartender was friendly, we sat at the bar.
