I was a little wary of going to this restaurant with my husband based on previous reviews. But it was very close to my hotel and therefore very convenient. In contrast to other reviewers I felt the service was good. The waitress took our order quickly and checked back several times after the food was served. While she could be considered abrupt in her style she was attentive and answered all my questions pleasantly. The starters arrived within 10 minutes of arrival in the restaurant and entrees 15 minutes later. We finished our meal within and hour. I would consider this speedy service. Most importantly the food was very good. The endive salad was tasty and the sauteed sole melted in my mouth. My husbands beef bourguignon was tender and piping hot on arrival. The portions were large and we didn't have enough room for dessert. I would come back here anytime I am back in town.

First, both servers were rude, from the bartender not wanting to open up at 11:30am down to the waitress that looked annoyed everytime she came to our table....I would not mind the rudeness factor that much if the food was great but that was not the case...I must admit the mussels were good but I ordered oysters on the half shell and they were shucked long time ago that the rim of the oyster was completely dry....never seen this before.

Stay in business, that is. The rude staff are equal opportunity offenders, so I tried not to take it personally. They sat us in a room with no air-conditioning on a hot summer evening, and we did not realize the large, middle area was not air conditioned until we asked them to turn up the air (after being drenched in sweat). (No accommodation for our inconvenience). You would think they would make a decent quiche, and perhaps it was, two weeks ago before it was dried out and reheated. Portions were small, and there was a huge leaky ceiling in the back of the restaurant (near rest rooms and not far from kitchen), with a huge basin catching water underneath. Will not return, but due to their poor attitude, I am sure they don't care.

ok, so the service isn't terrific, the waiters and maitre d' are even rude sometimes. but i've stopped in dozens of times over the past year and somehow, that is just part of the charm. the prix fixe is the best value, with a selection of soup of the day, salad, or duck confite, plus chicken, fish, or meat, plus a glass of wine for $60 for two. they accept substitutions. other stuff on the menu: would stay away from the artichoke, mess to eat. the escargots are great, tasty sauce you mop up with bread. the french onion soup is super-cheesey, which i love. the crepes suzettes are great, actually the desserts are almost all unanimously good. what's nice is that, despite the rudeness, they don't kick you out, so it's a great place for hours of conversation or on a night when you don't feel like cooking, you live west of park ave, and like the idea of 'going out' with a reasonable price tag. enjoyez!

place is cute. have eaten here a lot because it's convenient. food can be iffy. staff is downright chilly! convenient for me, though.

This is a neighborhood restaurant: no more and no less. Sometimes the food is terrific and sometimes it isn't. Are they welcoming? No, but they are that way to everyone. A good place to go when you don't want to cook but don't want to travel farther to find something better. The drinks are good, and there's a terrific all-day prix fixe, which make it a nice place to know about.

Awesome! First time to eat here and the food, presentation, wine, atmosphere was incredible! Most patrons here we noticed all had french accents and so we knew we were in for a real authentic experience. The waiter did have trouble understanding us, but we worked it out. Honestly, I came for the liver and onions and it was the best I have ever had. The Tartane Fine for dessert was a delightful pancake filled with baked apples, served a la mode. Can't wait to go back!
