restaurant week menus
I went to Delmonico's during restaurant week in New York, thinking I'd take advantage of the prix fixe menu. But, as other reviews have mentioned, reservations mean little to nothing during this gastronomical holiday, so we had to wait 45 minutes for a reservation. The hostess was nice enough, but I kept wondering if she sat the old, repeat clients faster (I guess that's just an enviable perk of dropping lots of cash here regularly. The other would be a significantly larger waistline.) In any case, we got seated eventually. Our table for four was roomy, and bread was fine. Our waiter was remarkably nice and accomodating. He was just a fine old man that was so friendly and polite and seemed really happy to be serving a madhouse that evening. My friend and I decided to split the Delmonico's steak (41) and fries. The other two of our party went with the prix fixe option and both selected steaks. Their appetizers came and looked, well, really puny. Their filets did look like a full 8 oz, I admit. But, I stand by our choice of the Delmonico strongly. It was delicious, cooked medium-rare, with the outside charred well. It was split into two portions already when we got them and each plate got fried onion rings. The fries were better than average. With a martini and a beer, the bill for us came out to be about 50 per person, including tax and tip. Our friends deserts looked good, I'll admit, but we were still working on our meat when they got to their last course. So, for roughly the same price, I would suggest splitting one of their steaks and foregoing the minimal appetizer and dessert of the prix fixe menu.

Wonderful Vday dinner
My boyfriend took me to Delmonicos for Valentines day dinner. It was really wonderful. Romantic/classy atmosphere. Everything was yummy... lobster bisque, delmonicos classic, rissotto, baked alaska. Service was excellent. Would go back again!

Amazing Steak and Lobster
My BF took me to Delmonico's last weekend, and it goes in my book as one of the best meals I've ever had. I had the 1lb Maine lobster and he had the Classic Delmonico Ribeye. Both were DELICIOUS. The Steak was juicy, tender, and not as fatty as other Ribeyes I've had. The Lobster was amazing, it was so tender and the brandy cream sauce was to die for. For appetizer, we ordered the duck ravioli. It was a nice contrast of flavors, and very good as well. I highly recommend Delmonico's, and look forward to going back soon.

Top 3 on my list
i had dinner with 6 clients at Delmonico's on 9-6-07 and i have to admit as a frequent diner in manhatten this place is tripple a one of a kind. the service and food was out of this world.. It feels like someone finally took a steak house and made it elegant and classy..everything was great i orderd a mushroom rissoto with shaved black truffles which was out of this world as well as my perfect hash brown which was so perfect. the the delmonicos steak is there signature which is to die for and the banana candy baked alaska was phenomenal. the only issue i had is that i was stuffed to the gizzards with yummy food. BTW for you people who go to a place like delmonicos for dinner expect what you get for 20 bucks..this place is definetly top 3 on my list

Nay-sayers' wake up !!
My friends and I are doing a tour of the steakhouses here in NY, I have been to many of them so I feel I have experience in this realm. Went to this fine establishment on Friday night, for anyone who has a negative comment on the food, give your head a shake !! This isn't my all time favourite, but I would put it up there in the top 3. I had the lobster bisque to start and the "the classic" as my main, both were fantastic. The other 3 in my party ( all which have done multiple steakhouses as well ) all had similar opinions, the place is very good ! For anyone complaining about the price, get serious, four guys with drinks, apps, mains, sides and a bottle of wine for under $300 !! If you think that is expensive for a NY steakhouse, go back to MacDonalds. Our prior experience was twice the price which I could have cooked better at home, now that place was a rip-off. So if you are a true steak connoisseur, you can't go wrong with this place.

Where have you gone, Joe Dimaggio
I went to Delmonico's with friends for the first time after being out of New York for 20 years. The new decor was attractive, but the smiles ended there. The food was just average, the service was really poor. I didn't see the bill, but what I ate (asparagus underdone---another 30 seconds would have made it still firm but not requiring extra energy to chew----and a very ordinary filet mignon) certainly was not worth Delmonico's prices. I'm so sorry, Delmonico's had been a place I loved, but I wouldn't care to go there again.

Don't waste your time or your money
I took a friend of mine as a "thank you" to the restaurant of her choice and she selected Delmonicos. We ordered drinks and 2 Seafood Platters and during the Seafood Platter appetizers, the busboy came and took my drink which I wasn't quite finished with and I was not offered another drink. The same busboy was hovering over us and twice tried to take our unfinished platters away. I told the waiter to please slow things down. The restaurant was 25% at capacity. My friend ordered the Filet Mignon and I ordered the TBone ($42.00). What came was a TBone that you might find at a dinner and then the dinner's TBone would probably be better. It was not thick and it was certainly not 24 oz. (I believe that was the size quoted on the menu), so I looked at it, spoke to my friend, she agreed that it was a poor excuse for a TBone and I called the waiter over and asked if it was the size that was described on the menu. It was thin cut. Further, I said that I could not believe that this was what Delmonicos was serving for a TBone. He said that he would call someone over. The next thing we knew, there were several waiters, the Maitre D' and the Chef hovering in a corner across the room looking in my direction. After that, other waiters glanced at my plate as they walked by to tend to other patrons. After that, no one came over to the table except that same busboy to clear the table. This time, we were finished. We passed on dessert and then and only then we were told by the waiter that they would have given us a complimentary dessert. I wouldn't have taken their dessert. What I wanted was the waiter or someone to come to the table and offer me another meal. he mistake I made is that I ate the steak and did not say take it back as I want something else. I ate at Delmonico's many, many times years ago. I knew they closed and opened a while ago after renovations....trust me they renovated but in the wrong direction. Don't waste your time or your money.
