Defonte's Sandwich Shop

This place is amazing. I go and order from here often. I always get three at a time to last the weekend. Nicky Special Deli King Hot Cuban All soooo good and here's why... Nicky would have to be that hot salad on there, that's what you order the sandwich for and the name is cool. Deli King because it is the king and the Cuban is going to be the most fun to tell you about. this thing is the italians version of a Cuban. Cuban sandwiches were created by the poor living in Cuba, they were thin sandwiches. There's nothing thin about an Italian sandwich. All the right flavors only Italian thick. The pickles are amazing and the garlic bread momma mia.

Let me start by saying that i love this place...high quality ingredients and good portion sizes. But i just had a Nicki Special, and i was like "where's the meat?" I've had just about everything on their menu over the years, and my favs are -Nicki Special -Hot Roast Beef -Meatball sub So you can imagine my frustration when i got home to unwrap the Nicki Special goodness and watch some basketball, only to find just a thin layer of cold cuts on my sandwich!!! Usually they are piled thick and high, which is just how i like it. Maybe it was an off day...i'll give them another chance...i do love this place, and i want them to get it right.

The only problem with this place is it's not open late enough. I love everything here! Best sandwich shop in the city!

I recommend ordering a special request: 1/2 eggplant parm+1/2 eggs n peppers stacked (not side by side).

Excellent sandwiches. Usually too big to eat a whole one. Best idea: Go with 3 people and order 2 sandwiches split 2/3 each. Egg, meatball, shrimp, roast beef are all winners. To any naysayers, I say Fuhgeddaboud.
