Ok food if you can get it
We were big fans of Dean's when it opened and became regulars. Went there many at least once a week and called for take out. The dining-in service progressively worsened, almost to the point where the staff seemed to ignore you. The other day (Sat at 6p) we called for take out. After, being left on hold for an inordinate amount of time, we called back only to have the girl say that they were too busy and they couldn't take our order!!! That's no way to gain/keep customers in an area that has better choices for Italian. We are no longer customers of Deans!

If you can get the food in your mouth
We have been frequenting since they opened. Service was poor to begin with and worse now. The food is really good if you ever get anyone to get it to you. We have also ordered for delivery many times but this evening were put on hold for a ridiculous amount of time. When I called back, I was told they were too busy to take a delivery order. This loyal customer is no longer a customer. Try the new restaurant around the corner, Fabio's, on 44th between 2nd & 3rd as a replacement. Prices a bit more, but at least you get served.

Customer Service?
I live a few blocks from this place and called to order a 2 topping 16 inch pie which totals $20. I wanted to use a 20% coupon I got in the mail. They said they would not deliver under $20 and I needed to order more. I refused. Is this their way of attracting new customers? To bait customers with coupons then enforce conditions once they want to buy from them? Do they realize this is NYC with tons of dining options? A little flexibility would go a long way. Good luck with your new rules, Dean's!

good restaurant..
Food overall good. Given these folks came up with both Patsy's pizza and Good burger too undeniable success stories perhaps it should be even better. Ingredients used in the food are good. The pizza is a good, but I agree with someone else not as good as Patsy's, but definately the best of the generally weak pizza offerings in the area. Not sure what people are talking about that the pizza is expensive, what large pie is not $17 in NYC today? As for the comment that the pizza is not large enough that is odd comment, it is the same size as everyone else. Bottom line: New concept I assume they will refine and it will get even better, these guys have a great track record.

Had a wonderful time & lunch,
A dear friend of mine asked to meet for lunch. She choose Dean's, as she has ordered out from there before. The experience was terrific,, the staff from top to bottom was just awesome....we told our waitress (Leahanne) we had a limited time...the food came fast, well presented and delicious . This place was fun and the staff seemed to enjoy their work. I recommend Dean's and will certainly return again as soon as I can.

Great pizza
I think it's the best in the area, even if it is a little more expensive.

Probably wouldn't go back
I came here for dinner last week with a family member who was staying at a hotel around the corner. Given the dearth of restaurants nearby and the cold weather, we picked Dean's b/c it was so convenient. The waitress was very sweet, but trying way too hard to "upsell" us on everything. Bottled water, side dishes, dessert, etc. I might have been more sensitive to it b/c I read the other review on here, but it was still annoying. We were asked for our food order within minutes of sitting down, before we had been asked if we wanted anything to drink. We ordered a bottle of wine to share, which was brought out, opened, and poured into both our glasses without a chance to taste it. Fortunately it was fine, but this kind of typified the level of service we were getting. The food was pretty good, with the sicilian salad being the stand out. It's definitely priced fairly for the portions and quality of the food. The doors of the restaurant open directly into the open dining room, so we received a nice blast of arctic air everytime the door opened. I'm not sure if the management is pushing this "upselling" strategy, but it's very annoying. It's what I would expect from Olive Garden, and people used ot better service aren't going to tolerate it.
