Consistently good and fresh food.
I needed to post an updated review after seeing some of not so flattering ones. I have been ordering from Deans for over two years and have been very pleased with both the food and customer service. There has been only one time when the pizza did not have enough cheese on it, and when I called the manager couldn't have been nicer, and sent me a brand new pizza. The food is flavorful, and tastes very fresh. I highly recommend this restaurant especially when you are really hungry... portions are ample. A big shout out to the Manager who always is courteous and happy to serve you. Inside dining is just as pleasant and pleasurable. Love Deans!

The Deterioration of Dean's
Dean's is steadily deteriorating. The food is either burnt or stale, the wait staff and management indifferent. For a long time, we suffered the screaming kids because the food was good but that is no longer the case. Stay away, order in.

Bad for delivery
I've been ordering delivery from Deans for awhile now and 80% of the time the food is a mess when it arrives. If you order pasta from here, be prepared to get your order with the sauce leaking out of the busted container. Consider yourself lucky if it gets to you without spilling everywhere. Sometimes it is so bad that if it weren't for me being so hungry I would not eat it, as it looks unappetizing when the container is broken and the food exploded everywhere. Asking the person on the phone to package it carefully does not help either. Sometimes they will say yes, other times I was told that they couldn't do anything about that. When i called to complain, I did not even get an apology and was told I could stop ordering from them if i had a problem. Its a pity too, because the food is not bad at all.

Not the kid friendly place it was supposed to be
Having been many times with two kids, I have taken Dean's out of circulation. What was billed as a kid's place has turned its back on the kids. There is no children's menu, no flexibility to made a dish to their tastes, the crayons are gone and the tvs are running news programs. To add insult to injury, they don't even support the Taste of Tribeca which benefits the two local schools and many of its patrons. Brick and Gee Whiz have such different attitudes towards kids.

Stick to the pizza
The place isn't bad. Kind of place the locals take the kids for pizza. My girlfriend got the eggplant parm and the sauce was ok, tasted canned. I got the grilled chicken platter and it overall tasted pretty good - could have toned down the olive oil but overall it was good. Looking at the other tables' choices, the pizza looked pretty good. If I'm looking for classic brick oven pizza, I'd go again. If I'm looking for something else, I'd go somewhere else.
