My wife and I took approximately 20 people here following my daughter's recital. This was done without a reservation but we did give them a "heads up" about 2 hours before our ETA. In a nutshell: the staff were EXTREMELY cooperative and were on top of my request of ordering only a certain amount of food. Four different pies (brick oven), 3 salads, 2 pitchers of soda, 2 pelligrinos (rolls also were provided)....the food was very good and the waitstaff very efficient. There was a minor discrepancy with the bill and the manager handled it without any problem. All in all, a very good experience. I will definitely come back and try other items on the menu besides the pizza.

Delivery takes forever... and when you call to check in and ask what is going on they make you feel like an idiot for not assuming it would take 2 hours to have pizza delivered to you for lunch on a Monday. Also.... pizza itself pretty average.

I eat the pizza here often seeing as how I have a friend that works here. It is by far my favorite pizza in the city. Mind you, this is 'special' pizza, not just some greeasy piece you want late at night and hung over. This is pizza you want if you enjoy natural flavors. You pick your own toppings, can split it up half and half, etc; they're really accommodating to personalizing the pizza. Therefor, it can get a bit pricey, but its worth it. In response to an earlier reviewer: Dean's uses a brick oven, the bottom is suppose to be "burnt". Its kind of like how a steak is suppose to have charcoal marks. This is a good thing, and it adds flavor, and no, its not going to be loaded with cheese, as its a delicate pizza and they focus on fresh ingredients and the flavor it produces. The staff does tend to be a little sluggish, and thats coming from a friend of someone who works there. It is a kid friendly place, so be ready for that. But on the bright side, as they are accommodating to strollers, they are to bikes, too, so cyclists, get your grub on! Decent selection of red wine, too

I had been avoiding this place due to the high volume of large parties with kids flocking for dinner - the food was surprisingly tasty and the pizza was excellent thin crust with a fresh bright marinara sauce and good mozerella. I also didn't die of thirst a few hours later which is one gauge of really good pizza/italian food. The pasta dishes were also generous and flavorful - I think very good value for the money and the room is just gorgeous too. I will say that the wait service was lacking - the restaurant was not overly busy and the waiter was MIA for a good portion of our dinner, although pleasant when he showed up - ditto the bus boy - want more water/napkins/seasoning for the pizza get it yourself - otherwise I think a good place to go with a group and I look forward to going back hopefully soon.

My friend and I were in the mood for brick oven pizza but didn't want to shuttle all the way down to the W 70's for our usual Patsy's. We stumbled upon Dean's and we're so glad we did! We went on a tuesday night around 8pm so it wasn't crowded at all. We elected to sit at the bar because we were in a casual moood and figured we'd have quicker service (we were starving) vs. sitting at a table since the waiter/bartender was directly in front of us. We just got pizza a basic salad, some pizza, and red wine and were thrilled. The pizza was delicious and perfectly cooked. We couldn't finish the whole thing so I took the leftovers home and heated them up in the oven the followind day and it was still quite good. The atmosphere was great but like I said, it was a quiet Tuesday night so we didn't have to compete with loud kids or anything. We will definitely go back again soon!

Have never posted a review but they were so rude on a delivery order the other night I am writing one. We used to order all the time - at least once a week. They have increased prices drastically; have zero customer service on the phone; have called more than once after accepting an order than then call back to say its too late and they can't deliver. Maybe there is a turnover in management but they seem to be a different place.
