    Stay Away

This place could possibly be good. The server is robotic, not friendly nor helpful. He has an iPad and cannot seem to describe anything or take requests because of the iPad he uses. He lacked any social grace. The appetizers were very good, a great salad and tuna tartar. My duck ordered medium was well done and not seasoned. My wife's chicken was beyond well done and salty. The busboy slammed two bags of ice behind us on the brick wall, just several inches from the back of my friend. This place has no class. The manager did not care about our complaints. Food mediocre, service a zero, ice being slammed against the wall is a new one.

    Won't return

I will start by saying that the interior is beautiful as is the outdoor garden but that was the only positive. We went for brunch with a group of 6. We started by ordering coffee. We asked for skim and soy milk but the waitress said they only have full milk despite it having soy and skim on the menu... I ordered the ham and egg which came on a toasted croissant however when it arrived it was on burnt bread - no croissant. I called over the waiter to ask him and he said 'oh yes I meant to tell you that we were out of croissants but forgot'. Are you serious? If he would have told me at the time I ordered it I would have gotten something else. My husband ordered the burger and said it was bland and undercooked. Don't go here. So many amazing brunch places in the area with great food.

    Rushed

Service was poor from the moment I arrived (5 minutes early for my reservation) with two of a party of 4. The first thing the hostess said was that if the balance o our party wasn't there in 15 minutes she would give away our table. Nice welcome! Once we were seated, before we could even settle in our chairs the waitress was rushing us to take our order and retuned every two minutes till we ordered. Servers were trying to take plates away before we even finished.

    Great Suprise

So we're walking on w 10th street looking for a place to eat dinner and we stumble across De Santos. We were seated quickly towards the back past the bar and it was a really cozy/warm atmosphere, the kind of place you want to be on a cold nite. My daughter ordered the tuna tar tar and we all shared and very nice. For entrees I ordered the organic chicken with mashed potatoes, the wife ordered a special branzino and my daughter got the muscles. All the food was really good. The branzino was very tasty, the chicken was moist and the gravy and potates added a nice touch. The Muscels were excellent in a white wine sauce. My son got the strip stake, which he enjoyed. I enjoyed and will definetly be back. Also staff was friently and attentive.

de santos? de nada. forget it, please

The service is strictly amateur. My pArty waited 25 minutes for the waiter to even swing by and deliver the drinks we ordered -- which were tepid for sitting on the service bar. Food was average, an overcooked steak and rubbery chicken, droopy pasta. The manager was so rude when we explained we were not happy with what was on our plate. Instead of asking us what was the problem, we told us our kind of people wouldn't even know good food because we were too young: late twenties and that we were spoiled. De santos? why bother.

A great find in a great 'hood

So my GF and I stumbled upon this place last fall after dinner while walking thru the W Village, and we popped in for a few drinks. The place was pretty crowded, the menu was seasonal and one-page (both big pluses), and we felt a good vibe overall. So we decided to come back for dinner/drinks at some pt. We returned a few weeks ago, and the place did not disappoint one iota. Place was already packed on a Thurs nite @ 7pm. Great food (porcini truffle risotto was top notch, as were the popcorn shrimp), a clever/outgoing waiter who 'was with it', great crowd, and overall great experience catapulted this place into one of our top spots. Next time we're coming back w/a group. Keep up the good work....

    Great place...crappy bartender

So I tend to frequent this place on Saturday nights. I really love it here but for the first time I left there with a pretty bad taste in my mouth. My friend noticed last Saturday upon trying to get a drink that the bartender acted as if she didnt see her for like 20 minutes until one of my guy friends had to take her place and order the drinks. To my dismay, it happened again to me but this time she actually eyed me and asked the guy directly behind me what he wanted to drink. As I was not loud, rude or even remotely inconsiderate but politely waiting my turn I found this rather appalling. Assuming she may have known the guy I patiently waited and she continued to serve the men. I have to say she is a poor representation of DeSantos, as minus the bartender it's a great place.
