    ehhhhh.

not sure how i feel. first off, they arent open on sundays. what coffee shop with wi fi isnt open on sundays? the days everyone has time to actually sit in a coffee shop? second, their coffee machine was broken for about 3 weeks. ur a coffee shop... cafe is in your title... i mean, seriously? the food was above decent. not the best, but not bad either. but the menu got me... what tiny hole in the wall cafe serves super cooked food? i mean if u want to serve sit down dinners, then add some real tables and make the place a little bigger.... otherwise, stick to coffee, paninis, and maybe a couple of bagels. also ... no bathroom. if i spend a few hours there on my laptop, drinking cup after cup of coffee... just saying, might be a good investment. (and for the poster who mentioned beer and wine... i highly doubt they can in a place that small.... with no bathroom...) nice idea tho.

    Hit or Miss

Don't get me wrong: generally speaking, I love their food. When you can get it. Everything i've had there has been great: the only problem is that they're often out of things, often closed earlier than their printed hours, and often I'm not able to get through to call in an order. It *is* a cute place if you go there... the people are friendly enough, the food is great, the price is reasonable. I just wish they'd be a little more consistent all across the board. I'd recommend the food, but also advise having a backup option.

    Good Food and Good Service

Tasty sandwiches, and the server read my mind. I will be back again.

    great find!

I stumbled on this place on my way to the train. very good food and they serve an awesome breakfast..something Inwood is in need of. The staff was super friendly and more than willing to accomodate my special order. I have to say that I was pleasantly surprised!

    Poor Food, Rude Service

The people who work there are the rudest I have ever encountered. Mixed up my order and were unapologetic. The food after a long wait was not good. Skip this spot, not worth it.

    cool spot w tasty food

this place was pretty cool although i didnt realize they were even there...nice jazz playing and a relaxing atmospere...they serve breakfast all day on Sunday now which is awesome..to find a good breakfast place in this neighborhood is hard. Had a greek omelet with a side of homefries and wheat toast and took a chicken empanada home for lunch. will definitely be back especially since word has it they will soon have wine and beer! yes my kind of place...

    Great addition to the neighborhood!

We live in Washington Hts so anytime a new eatery opens up in WaHi/Inwood, we are psyched! This place is cool... great menu selection, friendly staff, tasty food. We've eaten there & ordered delivery too for the most part we've been pleased. The paninis are wonderful! Have also enjoyed the savory Thanksgiving turkey & buffalo chicken wraps. They say on the menu they'll customize anything & it's true if you want to customize, or have an ingredient on the side they will accommodate you (some places don't, you know). The macaroni salad is good, not earthshatteringly so, but it's a nice complement & I like it. The vibe at the location is super ... warm, neighborhood-y... when we were there they served up a plate of coffee cake samples for the diners. There was also a Manhattan Times photographer taking pictures... Easy chatting w/ people there. Now, the not-great stuff: the beverage selection is a bit limited, which was fine w/ us, the coffee, lemonade & iced tea were great, but others may not be into that. Also there's no restroom at the restaurant but they worked out a deal w/ the barber shop next door so you can go there. That's what we did that & it was an adventure because it's busy next door plus the bathroom's down these somewhat steep stairs, we thought it was fun going there but again, some people may not be okay w/ that. Finally, I'm noticing they really like to fry stuff. I think the stuffing in the Thanksgiving wrap might've been a little fried, & the veggie burger (the only thing I've gotten there that I didn't think was great) is definitely fried & not too flavorful. So just make a note of that. Overall, we're very happy to welcome de Cafe to the neighborhood & to our revolving Upper Manhattan dining options!
