DBGB Kitchen & Bar
Posted by HP on 07/23/2009
I went here with friends last night and we split a few dishes. The sausages were very good but nothing great. The burgers stole the show, however. Cooked rare like we ordered, which does not happen often when ordering burgers anywhere. They were spectacular, but too small to warrant the price. That can be said for just about everything at DBGB. We also had octopus and mussels. Everything was fine. As I said the burgers were great. This place is just too expensive. I enjoyed it, but I won't be back.

let us forget that it was hot as hell in the restaurant and that the table arrangement is less than desirable. i actually don't need the drama of sitting right next to the open kitchen. the food was good but the portions were ridiculously small. my duck was delicious but i would like more than 2 tiny slices, a tiny cube of what appeared to be spinach and a ball of meat that was the size of a pingpong. it would also help if the hot food was actually hot and not lukewarm. the service was very poor. not one of the several people assigned to our table of 4 could understand and actually bring an iced tea to the table. i would prefer not to go into the subject of bathrooms but i just have to report that there was no soap in the one i visited. this after the staff had just left it holding rolls of toilet paper. on the plus side, they did have the table ready when we arrived, although we were 15 minutes late. all in all, i would say that a celeb chef and good public relations do not a good restaurant make.

Brought the kids. They were very prepared. Great place for the whole family. The food was good, not great. We tried three different types of burgers, three different apps and a few different types of beers. All good, not great. Service was pleasant but took a LOOOONG time to get each course. It's a good neighborhood joint with a rock star chef at best. I will go back, but with those excpectations and nothing more. It's in direct competition with Schiller's in my opinion. I like both.

Best hot dog in NY! The burgers and unique and delicious, the beer selection is way beyond anything I could have expected and all the food is executed to perfection. Typical Daniel Boulud but less expensive!

So far, this is his loudest restaurant so far. I am also not impressed with the service -- 2 of several orders were wrong (burger wrong temp and steak overcooked)... complained and waitress said "but how does it taste?" We are big fans of his restaurants but this one in my opinion it needs a little improvement..
