I've been to this restaurant twice and both times the food, the service and the atmosphere exceeded my expectations. Outstanding!

Very good food and very nice service

We ordered the veg. food. Harabhara kabab was very good. Taste of food is very nice, overall very good food. and very nice service by the staff. Good choice for Indian Food.

    Deeply delicious, highest standards

Dawat comes under the "superb" and "sublime" category for Indian food in this neighborhood. It is a gem, The food is cooked to a very high standard. Yes, it costs a bit more but the value is amazing and if you want a party for your tastebuds, you willl not be disappointed. The only problem we've had is sometimes haughty, sometimes snotty, aloof, or surly service. It put us off for awhile. We've solved this little problem now by just ordering takeout to be delivered - cheaper, too - and the delivery people are adorable and obliging and deserving of great tips...

The food was delicious, albeit a little pricey. They were very accommodating to my 7 year old who is not a fan of Indian food and is rather picky. They reccomended a particular chicken dish that was not spicy (which I forgot the name of), and my daughter loved it. In fact I liked it so much I might order it myself the next time I'm there. The chicken tikka naan was delicious!

Unappetizing meal. Vegetables Curry, vegetables overcooked and watery.. sauce spiced with chili.. where were the wonderful spices of India. Would not recommend

    Poor Service & Overpriced Food

I entered the restaurant with a friend and we had made reservations. There was a hostess who was Indian and she completely ignored us and just paid attention to the other customers. I do not recommend this overpriced restaurant and you can get the same quality food from those cheaper restaurants in Little India on East 6 th Street. Why doesn't the Owner invest in some Courtesy training for his/her staff?

One of the Best Restaurants in NYC!

I never write comments on restaurants, but I had to for Dawat. It is one of my favorite restaurants in the city along with Atlantic Grill - The only two restaurants I would write reviews for. The atmosphere is not something to write home about, and the meal is on the pricier side (I would say to be done right ~$50/person), but it is certainly delicious. They have the best Indian Food I have ever had, and some of their options can please even the pickiest of eaters. Highly reccommend the Sea Bass Tikka and the Roasted Vegetable Tandoori.
