Great brunch!!
This was my first time to David Burke kitchen and I loved it. My friend and I got the prefix brunch so I ordered an app and she ordered a dessert so we could try multiple dishes. I ordered the tuna tartare tacos which were really good. My friend ordered the french toast and I ordered the mushroom omelette with ricotta. Both were delicious but especially the french toast. THAT was heavenly. For dessert we ordered the apple tart. Not over the top but good. Our service was good but a couple of times servers were confused and came to our table with the wrong order. Our waiter was very attentive though. I would definitely go back!

Yummmmmmmmmm!
first of all - let me berate the rest of the menupages family who all seem to care more for service than food. if you want great, cheap service then drag yourself to applebees or TGIF. if you want great food - then go to David Burke. all of the food is whimsical, well-made, and absolutely outstanding. do yourself a favor and make sure to get a couple of apps - we had ants on a log (bone marrow and snails), bison tartar (chili infused sauce), and fried grapes and peanut butter (and bacon!) the mains were just as good - the fish dishes were made with a light hand - both in cooking and saucing - leading to a somewhat understated, but absolutely delicious dish. the meats were beautifully charred on the outside and bloody on the inside (as they should be!) pastas were all al dente with smack you in the face sauces. and the scallop dish with quail eggs made out knees buckle. if this doesn't sound good to you and you are more concerned that the wait staff aren't wearing enough flair, then get off of menupages, find a hooters and stuff your face with great service.

Poor Service
While the food is decent, the service is completely lacking. It's the second time I've been for brunch and both times our servers were missing throughout the meal. It's a shame because the space is great and the food is good (when it's not cold from sitting in the kitchen waiting to be picked up). Don't think I'll be back.

Underwhelming service
Just went there on Saturday, one of the hotter days, July 23, 2011. Had reservations for a group prior to. The restaurant had no AC working! They failed to notify the people who made reservations ahead of time about this "inconvenience" even though had trouble with it for days. What is even worse is that not once did they apologize for the fact that AC was not working. Not even a complimentary cold soda was offered, forget appetizer or coffee. None of the servers knew the menu well enough to explain it before the orders were made. They failed to inform us that the porterhouse steak special on the menu has.... finished. The waiters were very unprofessional taking the food away before everyone on the table had a chance to taste it. Oh yes, and they also ran out of skim milk...and forgot to notify the guest who ordered it. Very Very disappointing experience!! Will never come back and will not recommend to anyone! There are tons of high end restaurants in the city that would have handled this situation in a gratifying professional manner. And oh yes, the manager himself, never came out... even though we asked for him.

Won't go back
Mediocre food in a noisy, uninteresting environment. Started with the lobster soup, which was more like beef broth ... I assume they made it by boiling lobster shells in some sort of stock. Then on to barbeque chicken on herb mac and cheese. Sounds good, right? While the portion was huge, I had no interest in either finishing it or taking it home. The chicken was overcooked, the mac was absolutely tasteless and loaded with undercooked, starchy peas. There was also a hard-boiled egg on the plate that was so dry, it was virtually inedible. The only seasoning that jumped out at me was salt, salt, and more salt. The desserts were equally unimpressive ... an apple tarte so tough it needed a knife to eat it, panne cotta drowning in pureed fruit that resembled a smoothie ... and when we got the bill, they had charged us for an extra meal. Fortunately, we double-checked the numbers. When this was pointed out to the waiter, he didn't even apologize. We could have overpaid by $40! I've had better meals for half the price, and much better meals for this price.

Forgetful unattentive Waiter
My fiance' and I went to have drinks and a meal during late afternoon. We ordered a glass of wine and a cocktail. They took a little long to arrive. We thought no problem because we had water and the outdoor space was nice although it was a hot sunny day. Then we ordered four jars (like appetizers but served in a jar) from the same male waiter. We waited and waited and our waiter never delivered them. So 45 minutes later we finally complained to a female waitress and she tried her best to serve us expeditiously. Ofcourse we still had to wait because the order had never been placed initially. Our waiter (the male) continued to ignore us with no apology. You don't expect those service issues at a David Burke restaurant. Isn't that part of the reason why he can charge premium price for food served? We don't mind paying but we want great service too!
