Quite good!
I picked up food at Darbar twice last week and really enjoyed it. Their lunch buffet has a great variety. My only complaint was service. I had very little time left to take lunch and needed to be quick, which was why I needed my food to go. I knew what I wanted and the manager told the waitress to take my order. She was getting drinks ready and the place was busy, but after she took the drinks to the tables, she made sure that everyone else was taken care of before me. After twenty minutes of waiting, I finally said something and she took my order. I do understand lunch rushes, but I had marked what I needed, all she needed to do was enter it into the computer. I think the people that sat after me could have waited for their naan while she did this.

Surprising find
I've had dinner at Darbar twice. Each time I found the food subtle and distinctive. I work near Grand Central and had been resigned to being too far away from Curry Hill and the wonderful Indian restaurants around 58th Street. I was surprised to find something so good in my neighborhood. Perhaps because the restaurant is located among office buildings (and perhaps because it is relatively new), the place has the extra advantage of being a quiet place to eat in the evening.

Excellent - best Indian food in Mid-Town
The best Indian Food in Mid-Town. Certainly get your money's worth, especially with the lunch buffet.

Best Indian in midtown
Its a bit pricey, but the food is really far above what you come to expect from American Indian. This is VERY good food. One of the best places to eat in the whole area near Grand Central for my money - and I live here. If you eat there, go upstairs, it's nicer. The buffet on the weekend is a great deal if you are hungry.

Definitely give it a shot
Overall, a great deal - lunch buffet @ $9.95. Veggie dishes were the usual predictable ones, but the goa fish and goat were an excellent change from the myriads of Indian buffets available in NYC.
