Never disappointed
Our fave for Indian when we are in NYC and craving that type of cuisine. Took a couple of Indian food novices from out of town recently and they were very impressed.

Great Food' Great Service
After seeing the reviews, I reluctantly went to the restaurant (had no time to go elsewhere). The interior was nicely decorated. The waiter was very cheery and recommended some dishes to us. There was about 5-6 other groups of customers already seated. It didn't take long for the food to arrive. We had the Goa fish curry and malai kofta. First time I had the fish curry but it was good. The malai kofta however was one of the best I've ever had and they gave us 4 pieces whereas other places only gave you 2. Me and my friend could hardly finish our food. The portions are big. We were so full we didn't ask for dessert but the waiter gave us complimentary dessert - how nice of them, the kheer was great too. Overall, I really do love this place. I'm glad I went there regardless. Definitely worth the money.

A Paradise for Indain Food Lovers
One of my fav.restarant in town. An ideal combination of really good food along with great service and Ambiance. The onion pakoras and the chicken biryani reminded me of my home town. Also the lamb chops are a must have if you're not a lamb person. I wasn't either. A perfect dining option for anyone who loves Indian food and/ or has an appreciation for ethnic cuisine.

Value Sucks
My gf and I hadn't been to Darbar for a few months, since we moved out of the area. We decided to give it a shot the other day - we walked in, opened the menu, looked at each other in shock then left. They have jacked up their prices by an average of $3-4 a dish. You just don't do that when there is so much competition around.

Delicious Value !
Delicious food at value prices. Is a great lunch pick-up place and the servings sizes are more than enough for one meal. Buffet choices for vegetarians are limited though good. Been there a few times for lunch and there is variety each time.

average
being English, we were told that Americans dont really 'do' Indian but we were craving it. We ate around 2130 but the restaurant was still half full. It was nice to have a menu away from the 'standard' english Indian restaurants! Food was average but it did hit the spot non the less. Plus we didnt get charged for the popadoms and sauces which were lovely. Bit deceiving if you're walking by and looking in...it may look quiet but they seem to seat lots of people upstairs first!
