My husband and I went to this place after reading the many great reviews on menupages, and we were definitely not disappointed. The okra crunch was a great appetizer. I had the chicken saagwala for my entree, and my hubby had the Kheema Mattar. Besides the food, the house Merlot was actully really good. Atmosphere was sophisticated and romantic, and service was excellent. Will definitely be back.

Dined at Darbar Grill last night and really enjoyed the pleasant atmosphere and wonderful food. Shared the veg samosas, whole wheat bread stuffed with potatoes, chicken vindaloo and tandoori chicken. Both of the chicken dishes were something to write home (or here) about as they were more flavorful than anything I've had in the city thus far. For a place that opened a mere few months ago, it really has its act together as well. From the hostess who took our coats, to our waiter, to the owner (I think?) and our servers, all made us feel very welcome. The interior is simple in an elegant way and without any pretension, and the prices are very reasonable. Without ordering anything alcoholic (but the Indian spice tea was fantastic), the bill came to just $49. Because it wasn't crowded, we were also able to have a nice, quiet conversation.

This is the 2nd time I've had Darbar... Last time we got a group of different items and shared it all Family Style. This time, we both got the Chicken Tikka Masala and some naan. The sauce in the Chicken Tikka Masala is absolutely amazing. It is probably the best I've had in all of New York. Highly, highly recommended. Well done Darbar!

The food and service here is great. Beetroot Kofta with its rich creamy sauce and the Lamb Buna were well-cooked and flavorful. The Malai Kebab and Sheekh Kebab in the tandoor platter were really tender and moist. But, surprisingly, the highlight was the Fruit Punch. The maitre d swears all it had was mango, pineapple and coconut cream. I am willing to bet he left out the secret ingredient.

Yesterday, we were six for the buffet lunch before going to see the Van Gogh exhibit at the MOMA. The condiments and chutneys, chicken tika masala, tandoori chicken, fish curry, various salads (beets were outstanding) and delicious rice, spinach with paneer cheese, dahl, other vegetables and one dessert were beautifully presented. Our server brought baskets of fresh hot naan and we all want to return to try the regular menu. This is a find.

Just had Darbar for the first time and everyone was very impressed. The staff was extremely friendly and caring about their food and service. The chicken tiki masala & samosas (both vegetable & meat) were great. Prices are very fair for the high quality of the food. Will definitely be going back.

Finally the standout Indian Restaurant has moved into the 50's!! I work one block from this restaurant and will return again and again. Great lunch value - Heavenly delicious.
