    Shockingly delicious!

A buffet always makes me suspicious ... but this Indian lunch buffet is TOP NOTCH. Far more varied than I've had in other restaurants. Fabulous raita and mango chutney and mint chutney and tamarind sauces. Not one complaint. I'll be back again for sure. NOT at all expensive for what you get.

    Excellent Buffet !

This is an oasis inn the middle of the urban landscape neatly tucked away not far from the soaring Lipstick Building and other towering concrete monoliths nearby. Here's a buffet you do not want to miss. Settled in beautifully recessed coffered black oak paneled walls and a Beaux-Arts tiffany glass ceiling it is Indian luxury at its finest. The food carries all the signatorisl traditional dishes one expects like fish curry, goat curry, dal makhani, et ceteta. There are desserts which are definitely regional ones that they make daily fresh from their kitchens. And an assprent of delightful mixed lass is that are heavenly. All this for a very reasonable pricing that tourists find 'welcoming.' If you happen to be in the vicinity of this financial district drop by you wont be dissappointed.

After 30 years experience of dining out in NYC I thought nothing could surprise me. Apparently, I was wrong...Darbar Grill introduced me the whole new world of flavors - I tried the chicken mirch buna and the lamb kebab appetizer, my wife had the traditional chicken tikka masala. The bhuna was superb - spicy as i asked for and extremely delicious. Lamb was soft and juicy, chicken tikka masala rich and all the portions were large. The service was prompt and friendly, we really felt cozy and taken care of. Since my food was very hot, I drank a lot of water but never had to ask for refill - somebody was just right there to fill up my glass - for the spicy food-eaters it's important. And top 10 for the music, charming Indian songs. Overall, perfect place for one searching authentic Indian curries, calm romantic atmosphere and welcoming staff. The only caution I would give is that new people to Indian cuisine (lucky ones:) should control the spice level and inform the servers about their taste. Enjoy!

    Not recommended

Sadly, dining is neither delicious nor delightful at Darbar Grill 2: the cooking is off. The cooks don't get it: the food lacks that zing, the thrill of fresh ginger, that yumminess even nicely done simple dishes can bring. Simply put, they either don't know how to cook well, don't love it enough or don't care. We live nearby, in a neighborhood with many Indian restaurants (including two superb ones) and you can find better fare elsewhere, even among the so-so ones. We gave Darbar Grill 2 three tries just to be fair, and it was harsh, or bland, or too peppery...and always meh... every time. Seen from outside, it's a nice looking room with inexpensive lunch deals, but that's all they've got. There are other places with nice rooms nearby that will have pixies dancing the dubstep on your tongue. Skeptical? Conduct your own experiment:the Sag Paneer, everyone's lunchtime staple, will disappoint you. You can't say you weren't told.

    Best Indian in NYC

Incredible meal. We had 3 people with different spice preferences. Each came out perfect.

I never really like Indian food but I needed to take my girlfriend somewhere nice and fast. I shot over to menupages found this place and went out on a limb. The food was flawless and so were the drinks. I DEFINITELY recommend going here.

    Outstanding Meal

I've been eating Indian food for 20+ years and found the meal at 2 Darbar Grill truly exceptional. Often times a buffet doesn't allow a restaurant to put its best foot forward. On the contrary here. Food was simply delicious. Spice and seasoning were excellent. Cannot wait to go back for more! Recommend Highly!
