OK, first off, they need a toaster. It may be a philosophical choice of Daniel, Dana, or whoever runs this excellent establishment NOT to have one. But they should. I move from their single flaw to their merits - as in - an EXCELLENT bagel. Chewy, crispy on the outside, and as I write my mouth waters. They have lox spread, belly lox, cream cheese of all varieties and aside from that they know how to stack a line. As you wait for your bagel you will see a case of excellent old-school bakery items - among them Almond Horns, Hamentashen, Struedel, B/W cookies...yada yada,

I love bagels and was in NYC for a day last week. I came into this website to find suggestions for a great bagel place. I ended up going Daniel's Bagels and I'm glad I did. They have the best cinnamon-raisin bagel I've ever had. Service was quick and friendly. It wasn't busy when I went, not sure if service changes when it's busy, just like most places. Next time I'm in NYC I'd definitely go there again.

Awesome bagels, great egg salad and chicken salad. it's a shame that the service is unspeakably bad. the food is good enough to keep me coming back every weekend even though 9 times out of 10 they screw up the order...

I live down the block from Essa and pretty close to Pick-A but I think the bagels and cream cheese are best at Daniels. For some reason their cream cheese has some sweetness to it that I just can't find anywhere else. The texture of the bagel is the perfect combination of doughy inside with a slightly crisp outer layer.

Whether you are eating there or call for a delivery this place has poor service. There is no order or process what so ever. The layout is not good. The bagels on one side, the spreads on the other, and the cash machine in the middle. And if you call for a delivery, expect them to answer the phone, then scramble for a pad and pen. It's really ashame too, because the bagels are pretty good.
