Disappointing coffee
This place has disappointing coffee! It's a real shame because their bagels are good. If you're going there for a bagel and coffee, do yourself a favor and just get the bagel.

Simple soul food
The bagels were good (not Montreal style, but still good!). Not too doughy, good firm crust. The eggs were plain (literally, no spice at all). The lox were good, at $10.50 per sandwich.

Not recommended
I've been ordering from here for over 5 years, and it used to be great, but now it is completely different. i'm writing this review because i am officially giving up. today i stopped in with a relatively simple order: everything bagel, scooped out, with lox spread and little bit of red onion. I get back to my office, open my breakfast, and this what i've got: an everything bagel!...but it went downhill from there. the bagel was not scooped out, which is something that i guess you could correct afterward with a lot of effort and a giant mess. the bagel itself had an ok crust but was super heavy and much too dense. the lox spread was the crappy pink mousse-y kind that has little flavor and wasn't even creamy at all.... and the "little bit of red onion" was a giant bunch of red onion all lumped together on one side of the sandwich. if i wanted to eat this thing, there was no way to get around rearranging the contents and getting cheap lox spread all over my hands. i was starving and it still wasn't worth it. considering that this came from what is supposed to be a really good bagel place, this was truly appalling. If i brought this concoction elsewhere, they would consider it sacrilege. Sorry daniel's bagels, but this is the last time i am going to be disappointed by you. farewell.

I think they must have improved the service
I've only been going to Daniel's for a couple of months. I see a ton of reviews here about how bad there service is. I dunno, I think the place must have finally gotten the message: I've never had a negative experience there, the staff has often been friendly and never been worse than neutral.

Decent But Not Impressive
Certainly not the best bagel in town, but a decent place to have one. They don't have fancy stuff to offer, but if you stick to cream cheeses or even butter and on a hot bagel with coffee -- it can be very nice! :) I always get their chicken cutlet -- they're good. Desserts aren't impressive at all.

Do not order out
I think if you are going to take do to-go orders over the phone, you should have someone who speaks and undrstands English. It literally took 10 minutes to order 2 identical sandwiches. First and last time I will order in from here. I will continue to be a customer on the few times I walk by while hungry, but will not go out of my way for something mediocre at best.

Not good
I had heard about Daniel's in multiple reviews-all saying it was THE bagel place to go to in NYC. It isn't close to where I live but I had to go try it. So on a Saturday morning, we got up and went on over. I ordered a baely and my boyfriend ordered a cinnamon bagel. I have no idea why they had such good reviews. My baely was sweet, had nothing in the middle but poppy seeds, AND the middle of the baely was crunchy, uh WHAT? Then I had heard that they will NOT toast your bagel because it is already hot and they don't need to, blah blah, well they were NOT hot bagels, and other people behind us asked for theirs to be toasted and they did toast it, so...? Oh, and the service wasn't great either. Needless to say, we won't be going back.
