zen palate gone very wrong
as a vegetarian i tried this place (delivery) thinking it might lean slightly more toward chinese food but it actually seemed like zen palate gone very wrong. i suppose i should have realized this based on the menu and the titles of the dishes. the highlight of the meal was the single "taro spring roll" i got with the lunch special - it was pretty much the only thing i wanted to eat. the soy protein was okay but the sauces and dips were bad and everything was cold. the wonton soup was simultaneously bland and strangely flavored. i took a few bites of each dish and pushed it aside. for vegetarian chinese fare i will stick with red hot or tofu in park slope. the upside? pleasant service, decent value and portion sizes for a kosher joint.

Great restaurant
I've eaten at many restaurants like this one (vegetarian/faux meats)and am mostly a vegetarian- this place is great. Even my meat and potatoes type husbands loves the food. The service is impeccable and the place is very clean- especially the bathrooms!

Worst Vegetarian food I've ever eaten
Do yourself a favor and skip this place. The food is terrible and gooey... Not even worth describing in further detail... (keep your appetite while you have it)..

Wonderful place!
I'm a big fan of Dang Lai's lunch - includes entree, beverage, and a spring roll/appetizer. All of the food is delicious, and the service is great - they're very accommodating with special requests (steamed, sauce on side). Highly recommended!

Yay! Veggie Food!
My husband and i eat in or order delivery here and it is great! Service is great and fast. I read what some people wrote about the food being heavy, but check out the noodles and soups, yum! Plus this place gives out free Buddhist literature which is so nice. So are the fortune cookies and orange slices at the end of the meal. I am so glad there is a veggie place in the neighborhood.

Sloppy, gloppy preparations
When Zen Palate closed on Union Square, this place tried to take its place. The menu even features some old Zen Palate favorites like Curry Supreme and Sweet and Sour Sensation. But Dang Lai Palace's food is not good at all. I actually felt nauseated a couple bites into my gloppy, too-sweet, drowning-in-sauce Sesame Medallions. I still order this dish at Zen Palate in Midtown or near the Seaport, where it's done properly. I've tried a couple of other entrees here - Mango Halo, Rose Petals - but none of them is good.

One of my favorites!
Authenticity is not their claim to fame, and honestly I wouldn’t expect it from any vegetarian joint whose dishes include so much soy protein (a product pioneered in the 50’s by Americans) and who cares anyway, when everything is so tasty! The place is subtly chic, welcoming and filled with such a relaxing hue of yellow tones through out. It’s not cheap but the portions are in concordance. I never leave without a doggie-bag. The staff is wonderful and very attentive. Go, with an open mind and try the scallion pancakes! Cheers.
