Fabulous!
Everything about Danal makes you want to go back again and again. The host is warm and friendly, the wait staff is helpful and efficient, and the food... YUM! Oh, and the two-story open-feel space is beautiful and homey and comfortable. Great experience all around!

Unpleasant service spoiled the (decent) meal
I had decent food here, but the service was slow, not thoughtful, and our server generally gave off unpleasant vibes that really spoiled the meal.

wondaful
The new Danal is absolutely fabulous, very shabby chic. Everything about the decor makes me feel like im at home. The food is absolutely delicious especially brunch- i got the croissant french toast and a french press coffee, my favorite!

not good
We rarely skip dessert, so dinner at Danal about a month ago was an exception. There was almost nothing redeeming about our entire experience. We didn't have very high expectations for the cheese plate, but were disappointed nevertheless when the server presented us with dry, boring pieces of cheddar and brie. The duck breast I ordered was terribly dry and the accompanying compote did little to save the dish. my friend's skirt steak was tasteless and he gave up on it after a few bites. Meanwhile, the large, two-story windows and decor were the highlights of our meal.

My new favorite restaurant
It's not often that I write in to rave about a restaurant, but this place is well deserving. The food is just simply delicious - always great quality and always perfectly uted. The shrimp salad with citrus, mango and asparagus is out of this world. And the staff is charming. Nothing but good things to say about Danal!

one of my favorites
I don't often spend a lot- well, for a student at least- at restaurants, so when I do it has to be great. Danal has been a favorite for years (though I have to say, I preferred the cozier townhouse setting on 10th street better). The service has always been great once you get in, though at the door expect the usual efficient-but-busy New York maitre d' attitude. Not many people know about their incredible afternoon tea. You have to reserve ahead of time, since they make everything to order. It's simply incredible, and one of the best ways to spend a cold winter afternoon.

What a shame
This place has such potential...great new location, but the host was so nasty. He was running around like his head was chopped off, snapping at customers, and telling someone who was asking about reservations over the phone that he was too busy to help.
