Mom and Pop Beat The Chain

Not to be confused with the big, impersonal, raucous Dallas BBQ chain, this is a small Mom-and-Pop BBQ joint with good food, cheap prices, friendly service, and (now) a decent wine list. They do primary a takeout/delivery business, but there are several small tables for dining in, and a nice ambience. The owners, who appear to be French-North African, are unfailingly warm and attentive. (The reviewer who complains about poor service sounds like a crank.) The perfect place for lunch or dinner before or after a movie at Film Forum.

    Amazing. Just amazing

Great ribs, great French fries, great Buffalo wings, genuinely hospitable owners and above all super music. I have been to this place many times and I have always a great time there. It did occur to me to wait in line maybe 2-3 times but the food and the atmosphere are so worth it. It's the total opposite of corporate, cold, deja vu restaurants. I just looooove it.

    service?

The food is great but these owners seem new at running a restaurant. They are slow and not very nice. And there are only four tables.

Fantastic BBQ - tiny gem of a restaurant

Best BBQ I have had in NYC - excellent sides also! I went to school in the South so after moving to NYC I was generally disappointed with BBQ. Went to many places, but found that I was always "missing something" or that sides were neglected. What this place lacks in size it makes up in taste and atmosphere. The space is tiny (fits about 10), but the owners are warm and inviting - always happy to please, and never in a hurry to get patrons out the door. I really couldn't ask for anything more (although, maybe a bigger stomach). FRESH ingredients, juicy ribs and attention to detail makes it a special find. Highly recommended for eat in, take out or liberal delivery policy!

    Good Little BBQ Place

The beef ribs were outstanding - tender, thick and properly charred. The side dishes were tasty. It's a tiny place - only room for about 10 diners; apparently most of the business is take-out and catering; but, we got a table on an early Friday evening and the service was pleasant.

    Never disappointed

Probably eat at Dallas Jones, or order delivery, two or three times a month, and their consistency and the ease at which they operate stand out. Then there is the food. I recommend the short ribs platter. The ribs don't let down, nor do the brisket, hanger steak, or pulled pork. The chicken is average, the cornbread often dry, but there's plenty to choose from, and so much of the menu reflect on their strengths. They even recently improved the cole slaw. If you plan of eating there during the evening, call ahead, cause they can only seat about fifteen. The owner is very accommodating and personable. The restaurant mellow, the noise level low, and the music eclectic in a good way.

    One in a billion...

It took me a while to try this place and I am sorry I waited so long. I had the softest, tastier baby back ribs, beef ribs were soft as butter and we had the BEST French fries ever. Their French fries are incredible: hand cut and slightly seasoned...They also played a beautiful medley of music and the owners were really and genuinely hospitable. A few days later I called them for a delivery and the food arrived quickIy, deliciously warm and very nicely presented. I had ordered a hanger steak, and garlic and parsley new potatoes and a tossed salad. The steak was tender and cooked just right. The potatoes were sauteed with roasted garlic and parsley leaves. The salad was nice, crispy and fresh with the dressing on the side. It was so big that it was a bargain at $8,95. I can only recommend this spot and hope the quality of their food and hospitality stays the same. Do try it, you will get addicted...
