Two Dinners
Delivery was pretty quick, compared to expectations. There was a generous amount of rice for a half portion, which was appreciated and naan was plentiful as well. The naan tasted like grilled pancakes, which for me was fantastic, but could be an issue for some people. I got a potato, tomato, and cumin dish which was really good-- a little dry since I would have liked a bit of sauce, and it was spicy, but it was good nonetheless. (Again, spicy is fine for me, but take heed: this dish has some kick. )We also got a curry chicken dish with chickpeas. The chicken was dry and the chickpeas were undercooked, but the flavor was good. Dakshin is a bit pricey, but unlike some other UES places, they at least give you generous portions. Leftovers for dinner the next day is a plus for me. Overall, I would order from here again.

Good food, prix fixe is a value, delivery sloooooow
I have been ordering from Dakshin for 4 years. I like the beef vindaloo. Tikka masala is ok. Prix fixe generally lasts me for two meals which is totally money. Their delivery time can be really variable. I have had to wait over an hour a couple of times and when I call they always say "delivery man has already left." So perhaps they need to get more delivery men or faster ones.

good. But Too Hot!
Like the food. But beware, some dishes are TOO HOT. Can't believe people can handle it. Vegetable Chattanadu... so spicey had to call 911. Good food, but beware of spicey.

Love Dakshin
My friend and I go here at least once a week. Its definitely not fancy but it works somehow. Once you try the food it doesn't matter what the place looks like. We cant get enough. the food is consistently delicious and the staff is friendly and helpful. the huge glasses of $6 wine are an added bonus. I have tried a lot of Indian in the city but this unassuming little place has them all beat!

salty!
ordered takeout from here...sooo salty to the point that it was nearly inedible. If we werent so hunry we probably would have thrown it all out. All of the spices were drowned out by salt, and we were thirsty all night!

was way better before
i think they may have changed the chef. Tikka Masala used to be delicious, probably the best I had. Now, it is one of the worst ones. Same goes for naan.

Good Indian, good folks
First experience was a solid one - good food (esp. the saag paneer) and great service, e.g., I left a sweater at this place and over a week later, dropped by on the off chance they'd have it, and lo and behold, they were gracious enough to hold onto it for that long. So I appreciate restos that appreciate and take care of customers that way. AND, the food was good (above average).
