Very accommodating
I love Indian food but I am now following a vegan "no oil" diet. It is almost impossible to find Indian food that is not cooked with oil. My wife and I sat down at Dakshin simply because we found a parking spot nearby. Trips to new restaurants are often uncomfortable because I have to go into the long explanation about my diet. However, the server at this restaurant was extremely accommodating! The chef prepared a wonderful grilled veggie dish and rice dish that was drenched in savory spice. Even though we live in the far reaches of the Bronx, we are happy to make a trip to this wonderful restaurant.

Take out is a let down
I've never had bland indian til I tried the chicken tikka masala from this place. Such a disappointment!

Poor service on deliveries
I am through with Dakshin for good after a third occasion on which my order was delayed an hour and arrived cold. The food is not bad; a bit greasy, but tolerable. But it cannot get its act together as a delivery shop.

Two Dinners
Delivery was pretty quick, compared to expectations. There was a generous amount of rice for a half portion, which was appreciated and naan was plentiful as well. The naan tasted like grilled pancakes, which for me was fantastic, but could be an issue for some people. I got a potato, tomato, and cumin dish which was really good-- a little dry since I would have liked a bit of sauce, and it was spicy, but it was good nonetheless. (Again, spicy is fine for me, but take heed: this dish has some kick. )We also got a curry chicken dish with chickpeas. The chicken was dry and the chickpeas were undercooked, but the flavor was good. Dakshin is a bit pricey, but unlike some other UES places, they at least give you generous portions. Leftovers for dinner the next day is a plus for me. Overall, I would order from here again.

Good food, prix fixe is a value, delivery sloooooow
I have been ordering from Dakshin for 4 years. I like the beef vindaloo. Tikka masala is ok. Prix fixe generally lasts me for two meals which is totally money. Their delivery time can be really variable. I have had to wait over an hour a couple of times and when I call they always say "delivery man has already left." So perhaps they need to get more delivery men or faster ones.

good. But Too Hot!
Like the food. But beware, some dishes are TOO HOT. Can't believe people can handle it. Vegetable Chattanadu... so spicey had to call 911. Good food, but beware of spicey.

Love Dakshin
My friend and I go here at least once a week. Its definitely not fancy but it works somehow. Once you try the food it doesn't matter what the place looks like. We cant get enough. the food is consistently delicious and the staff is friendly and helpful. the huge glasses of $6 wine are an added bonus. I have tried a lot of Indian in the city but this unassuming little place has them all beat!
