Favorite!
The food at Dakshin II is amazing. Not surprising, as its sister Dakshin has always been a family favorite. The South Indian food is something different that my kids love. The crepe like pancakes (dosas) are soft and easy for my little girls to dunk in what is the acommpanying sambar (or vegetable/lentil soup). Dosas are mild, but very flavorful. My kids love coming in to Dakshin every Saturday afternoon and enjoying something other than mac and cheese. My husband and I agree; although we love the dosas as well, the Swami Chilli Chicken is great for someone willing to try something totally different and totally flavorful. We also like that we can order vegetables other indian restaurants would not serve, such as Zuchcini, Asparagus & Mushroom (soup), and Moong & Soya Bean Sprouts (salad). There really is, something for everyone.

Hit or Miss
I love Rasmalai, unfortunately it's hit or miss here if you get delivery. The last time I ordered my dessert was still frozen solid, and there was very little of the sweet milk around it, which meant I was scraping off the cheese as it melted and got to enjoy just a few good bites. For 4 dollars they should really watch what type of food they're sending out... will sample other indian restaurants in the area for now.

Great Food, Great Value
The lunch buffet is awesome! I love Indian food, and Dakshin definitely makes great Indian food (especially Tandori Chicken) and provides it at a good value. The restaurant is clean, service is good and the buffet is the best value in the Upper East Side. The only criticism that I have is that I wish they had more sides on the buffet (I'm not a big peas and cheese fan).

Very Disappointed
I've ordered from Dakshin before and liked some of the chicken dishes enough to give it another shot. This time, I decided to try some of the vegetable entrees. Big mistake. Although their delivery was extremely prompt, the quality of food made it clear why. The aloo gobi was totally bland and had way too much ginger. And the mushroom mattar was also lacking flavor. The best part of the meal was the naan. Def not the place to get good Indian food in NYC!

In Awe
I have been living on the UES for basically my whole life and I was introduced to Dakshin, which was on 1st ave and 88th st. I decided to move to 63rd st a year back and had realized that I had missed the Indian food from Dakshin. But Dakshin ll recently opened and the food was spectacular! It brought back memories and the even better tastes. I had known the owner for a while and he also introduced me to the chef, who has an amazing story to tell of how he got to where he is. He is an excellent chef. I adore this place and definitely love it. I recommend this place to everyone.
