What dining out in NYC should be! I second what all others have been writing about the ambiance and decor of Dakota Bar. I wanted to add that it is much, much bigger than it appears from their photos online. Gracious, cool space with plenty of seats at the bar (my favorite) and lots of high tables with swanky purple cushioned chairs. But, as it always does, it comes down to the people for me. Emily behind the bar was exemplary and she allowed us to taste wines until we got the exact glass. Food was fantastic and though the wines are a little higher priced than one would like, their menu was extensive and their pours were generous (a plus for a oenophile like myself). Love to know their is a cool place in the hood with a great menu and wine list. The patrons of Dakota are upscale but not an ounce of pretension was felt. I will most certainly be back. Too much yummy stuff on that menu to try!

I ate lunch at The Dakota Bar. It was a Cobb Salad with chicken, avocado, bacon, roasted peppers, hard- boiled eggs and blue cheese. It was fantastic.
