Considering the reviews I have read I expected a good experience. Big disappointment!!! This place has nothing to compliment. If the food was worth the price you could overlook the meager surrondings which for great BBQ would be ok. Unfortunately the ribs get a coating of rub which is not great and then a good job of smokng but wind up a disappointing result. The brisket only has flavor due to the sauce otherwise would be forgettable. The sides are an afterthought. There are better BBQ restaurants in NYC.

Don't go for white tableclothe dining, go for awesome pulled pork, chili and ribs. The Texas red chili is made with no beans and you haven't ever had anything like it.

After tasting the ribs at Dinosaur's, RUB and Blue Smoke, all twice, I have to say that the Memphis Dry ribs at Daisy May's win hands down. It's the only place where I wind up craving the ribs. I went there for a second time today and the ribs were just as good as they were when I first tried them several weeks ago. The ribs at the other restaurants do not even come close. The sides here are a bit of a problem for me b/c I like mac and cheese, fries or onion rings but the ribs are so good here that I feel I can live without that other stuff which is rare for me. I recommend getting the Memphis dry ribs and make sure you ask them for a side of bbq sauce. The ribs are extremely tender, great tasting and not fatty. The half rack serving seems very large. I hear people raving about the sides so I know it's me. I tasted the cheddar corn and the rice, both were very good I wouldn't return just for the sides. The corn bread is also good. Problems with this place is they only have one person taking the order, one person serving and very limited seating. They also close way too early and run out of stuff. However, they are all really nice, the place is spotless and they try to capitalize on the space as much as possible. THere are several communal tables in the back, another table near the restaurant, 4-5 stools in the middle of the restaurant and I learned today that the outdoor benches open into a counter from the back. Bottom line is that the ribs are that good here (haven't found a better place in the city)that I am willing to put up with the rest, especially the remote location! Please open additional locations throughout the city with lots of seating. They would be packed as I've seen many people walk off the line when it's too long and they notice all tables are taken.

You get in line, place your order, pay for it and then walk a few steps and pick it up. Your order comes in containers that were filled prior to your ordering. Very effecient but it makes for lukewarm food at best and likely just room temperature. I ordered sticky ribs, they gave me Memphis style. They gave me one napkin and no sauce and there was no sauce or other condiments on the bench style tables. The ribs had a smoke ring but they were tough, tough, tough. Tough has an affect on taste and mine were not particularly tasty. The sides, bourbon peaches and the corn with cheese were fine and I will be making the boubon peaches at home, particularly to have with ice cream. However I see no reason to return to this restaurant unless I were to believe that perhaps another time I may be lucky and get what I paid for in quality and taste. These folks do a good job of marketing their product but the primary purpose is to produce the product, tender tasty meat and sides. They missed the mark on the ribs. The restaurant was clean and the tables were bussed regularly. Overall this was a disappointing experience, in fact, since some glowing reviews have been written about the place, the experience was VERY disappointing.

My friend and I went to Daisy May's for the third time and we absolutely LOVED the side dishes. We can't seem to get enough of the sweet potato's and bourbon peaches....but unfortunately were disappointed with the beef ribs that had a lot of fat on them and not enough beef. We love this place and all the food is generally YUM-O but tonight they did not live up to our expectations! We will visit again another day.

Awesome ribs and brisket. The meat was very tender and full of flavor. Baked beans with burnt ends was delicious and could have been a meal in itself. The corn bread was very flavorful but not spicy(as was advertised in the menu). The cafeteria style dining area is a great addition. I look forward to the next time I buy my bbq dinner from Daisy May's.

If you want a sit down restaurant experience, this is NOT the place for you. You line up, order and they basically give your food to you in "to go" boxes. I think the "dining room" is a recent addition, and not intended for those who require restaurant like service. Think of this as a food court or fast food place. Except that the food is GREAT. YMMV depending on when you go. As the previous reviewer mentioned, most of the sides are behind the counter on steam trays. I tried the mashed potatoes (would have liked some good, thick, dark gravy, but it was good) and the creamy corn with cheddar (very cheesy and delicious). Also tried the Memphis dry rub pork ribs and the KC sweet and sticky pork ribs. AMAZINGLY good. I have to disagree with the last poster... this plays BLOWS AWAY Virgil's in terms of the flavor of the ribs, the texture, everything. I ended up ordering another half rack of the Memphis ribs to go and enjoyed them later on in the week. I can't wait to go back!
