Dafni Greek Taverna

The service was absolutely perfect. Prompt, friendly but also very professional. I had the lamb shank and my friend had the pastichio. After his first bite he said he'd like this for Xmas dinner every year forever. The value was just unreal. Pita with olive oil to start and our entree included a fabulous salad. Will go back every time I visit the city.

Short of Santorini, this is the place to come. From the calamari to the Greek coffee, everything was wonderful. Opa!

I find the trickiest part of guests coming into town is finding a quality, reasonably-priced place to take them for dinner before or after a show in the Theater District. I found Dafni when searching for a place online, and now go back just for me! The octopus appetizer is great. Actually everything I've ever tried here is great. Good prices and lovely service--don't be scared off by the proximity to Port Authority. It's an oasis inside.

This place is SUCH a great find! I just wish they were in a better location so that more people were aware of their presence! The service is impeccable. The staff are knowledgable. The management is kind. The restaurant is laid out well and impeccably decorated. It's also very clean, including the restrooms. The Saganaki is divine (if a bit small...but I could eat my weight in cheese daily and be a very happy camper :-). They have a great wine selection and servers who excellently pair this selection with your chosen cuisine. The gyro plate is nummers. The Aegean Seafood With Hilopites is on the small side but beyond flavorful. And I will cut someone DEEP if they even try to nab the smallest taste of my Galaktoboureko! Wash it all down with one of the best mixed and flavored Greek coffees you'll find in NYC and you are one VERY happy and pampered person!!!!!

We wanted to try something different on this trip, so when we walked by Dafni, we decided to try it. What a great decision! We were seated immediately & graciously. Service was very good & fast. Food was delicious. My husband had the lamb shank & I had the Tigania, both were wonderful, and were reasonably priced.

Went on a Sunday evening after reading some reviews. The greeting when we got to the table was an omen on things to come - warm and welcoming and informative. Our server made this meal special for us, from the appetizer of beets and potato, to the main course of charcoaled grilled red smapper and grilled shrimp. Her description and insistence on making sure we ordered the right greek wine was terrific. The topping on the cake was the wonderful baklava and the complimentary moscot wine.wine, We'll be back.

Found this place here on menu pages and the reviews were right. The food was excellent and reasonably priced. On top of that, we received top-notch service from the waitress who helped us navigate the menu and the wine list. She even gave us a couple of small tastes before we selected the wine. We sampled the cold spreads, had the zucchini fritters and the marinated octopus. All excellent. We followed it up by splitting the lamb shish kebob which was perfectly cooked - medium rare. Looking forward to my next visit!
