Dafni Greek Taverna

We had tickets to a show, and wanted to grab dinner quickly before it started. We skipped the appetizer, and ordered the moussaka and the salmon. The greek wine was pretty tasty, the salmon was prepared well. The moussaka was pretty much as expected, not spectacular, but perfectly fine. Entrees came with a nice greek salad and the bread basket was good. Once we told them we needed to be out of there in time to walk over to the theatre, the service was quick and efficient. We will come back when we have more time to sample a wider selection from the menu.

If you love Greek food, you want to give this place another chance. We are regular theater goers and Dafni is definitely convenient to many venues. We have tried numerous times; have spoken with management (got free wine and abject apologies) and yet they still "don't get it right." Cold food is definitely not appetizing. Huge portions cannot make up for cold food. We have eaten there for the last time.

Love the Avgolemono soup, Island salad and chicken soulvaki. I tried the Seamless web order and received a message that the restaurant did not deliver to my midtown address but called the restaurant directly and they were very accommodating. Great food arrived well packed and still hot. We will order again.

Everything was perfect. You won't be disappointed.

The subway made me 45 minutes late for a pre show dinner. The host was terrific in finding us a table at the busiest time. We were served fast and pleasantly, the food was delicious, the wine smooth, the rice pudding, one of the best. Will definitely go back on a quiet night with more time.

Ate dinner there after a Saturday matinee (its right across from bus terminal). Had some nice cold greek beers, hot bread, a cold appetizer (spicey cheese) and hot appetizer (sausage and leeks). I had Pastichio and my wife Moussaka and then we topped it off with a custard type dessert and greek expresso. Food was excellent, our waitress was very attentive. It came to less than $75 plus tip which I think is quite reasonble for the location and quality of food.

It keeps maintaining the excellent quality of the food. Best grilled whole fish (IMHO) I've had in the the city in ten years. Portions are perfect and the service is great. This is not gourmet fancy dining, just good eating in a very nice place.
