Better than Average
I have eaten in Greek Restaurants all over the world, including in Greece. For a Restaurant outside of Greece it was better than average. Most restaurants outside of Greece will adjust their preparations to the local incredient availability and local restaurant goer's tastes. This is common with any ethnic fare. If you want the real thing, go to Greece! That being said, the food at Dafni was very good. The tzatziki was the best I've had at a U.S. Greek Restayrant!

waste of money
This place is a 1980 NYC diner disguised as a modern upper scale Greek tavern with an attractive menu. The Gyro must be that Kronos frozen meat glue similar to what is sold in the street and not worth the heartburn or indigestion after affects. Their dips, calamari and chicken souvlaki tasted like something I could buy in bulk from major supermarket. This place is truly just another overpriced diner and not worth the time or money.

What were they thinking?
Sorry to say but I have to agree with the previous Cold Seafood reviewer. I really wanted to like this place and it looks nice when you go in but as we all know looks can be deceiving right? My gyro meat was cold and also grizzly. I expected a little better that street cart quality. But can you imagine my surprise not to mention my outrage when I ordered the Dolmades ( stuffed grape leaves) only to discover that they are from a can? Excuse me but what self respecting Greek restaurant would dare serve stuffed grape leaves that come from a can? I guess they must think their customers are so stupid they can't tell the difference. Never again.

Contender for best greek in the city ...
I stumbled upon this place when my parents were looking for a preshow dinner a couple years ago. They raved which lead me to try. There's no turning back now - I crave it whenever I'm in the area. Great greek wine and delicious food. I'm definitely in love with Mediterranean food and this is a top contender for best greek I've had in the city!

Greek before the show
We had tickets to a show, and wanted to grab dinner quickly before it started. We skipped the appetizer, and ordered the moussaka and the salmon. The greek wine was pretty tasty, the salmon was prepared well. The moussaka was pretty much as expected, not spectacular, but perfectly fine. Entrees came with a nice greek salad and the bread basket was good. Once we told them we needed to be out of there in time to walk over to the theatre, the service was quick and efficient. We will come back when we have more time to sample a wider selection from the menu.

Cold seafood
If you love Greek food, you want to give this place another chance. We are regular theater goers and Dafni is definitely convenient to many venues. We have tried numerous times; have spoken with management (got free wine and abject apologies) and yet they still "don't get it right." Cold food is definitely not appetizing. Huge portions cannot make up for cold food. We have eaten there for the last time.

Great food delivered hot
Love the Avgolemono soup, Island salad and chicken soulvaki. I tried the Seamless web order and received a message that the restaurant did not deliver to my midtown address but called the restaurant directly and they were very accommodating. Great food arrived well packed and still hot. We will order again.
