Reliably fine and in the neighborhood
Specials are worth listening to. Wines are fairly priced. Knowledgeable wait staff, willing to modify and adjust (we take fussy out-of-town eaters here.) Nothing exotic, but some creative efforts. Any dish on out of the wood-fired oven is worth trying. Good pizza.

Not worth the money
Our server was a nice enough guy, but the bread was microwaved. The clam appetizer was burnt and gritty. The pasta was just okay, while the pizza was pretty good. There are better places close by, no need to spend the same here when you can spend some place really good!

Excellent experience
I was there friday night with my family for a birthday dinner. I'd like to say from the start what an amazing experience i've had. The hostess was very nice and gave us a table upstairs which is a more formal area than the personal touch downstairs by the bar. The room was a little empty at the beginning but gradually started filling up. The candles and the dimmed overhead lights made for a nice ambiance. The waiter was very friendly and was explaining in detail about any questions we asked about the food. The specials sounded delicious but when we saw the soo thin crusted pizza outta the oven the neighboring table had gotten, we got so confused about which item from the menu or specials anyone should get. We all ordered different dishes and everything was delicious. The waiter was very attentive considering during dinner he had quite a few other tables to wait on. Truth be told the server knew it was a birthday dinner, so at the end half the staff gathered at our table with a dessert surprise with a candle to sing Happy B-Day. The homemade desserts were delicious: order the tiramisu or the napoleon. Honestly, I know how overated some restaurants are, but Da Ciro lived up to my expectations as far as the food and the service goes. Will definetly go back again.

Good food, poor service
Tonight My fiancé and I entered Da Ciro for dinner. We were seated by the door and pleased with the decor and ambience of the restaurant. Like at every other restaurant the first thing they do is offer water, "sparkling, Flat or regular tap water" But at Da Ciro it was different, our waiter offered us only sparkling and flat. It may not seem like a big deal but he was trying to push us into spending more money. On purpose I replied regular tap water, from that moment on it only got worse. I am not a big eater and i do not like to over order So i asked the waiter how big a pizza was and he said it would not be enough for a single person,( i am 5'8 120LBS) and we should share it as a appetizer and order 2 entrees. Again, trying to make us spend more money by lying ot us!I knew that would be too much food and it would go to waste so I just ordered the pizza as my own entree. We then ordered our food and waited.... Once our food came we began to eat, our waiter did not come to check on us once. He was conversing with everyone else, we weren't looking to create a friendship but at least check of our food is okay. The food was delightful but way overpriced. The waiter assumed that my fiancé and I don't have money because of the things above and treated us as if we didn't exist. Little does he know that that bill of $92.00 does not affect our bank accounts in the slightest way. My fiancé is one of the youngest special surgeons at NYU. Da Ciro has way too much potential to have someone like this ruining it. They lost 2 custumers tonight, and with this guy working there, they are bound to lose more.

These guys have it right!
Its easy to get sucked into one of the trendy new places that open up every day in New York. Da Ciro has a lasting reputation for being consistently tasty! If you want flashy menus, and a stuck up waiter this is not the place for you. The formula is simple, good ingredients= good food! Homemade cheese, sauces, and breads will let you know your in the right place. I have lived in the neighborhood for years and can honestly say it is no more expensive than any other restaurant in the neighborhood, and they will bend over backwards to make sure you get what you want. I have on numerous occasions asked for things that aren't on the menu, and they ALWAYS make me whatever I want. Da Ciro is a place where you can feel welcome, and have a great meal. Try it and you will go back!

Great food & service but at what price?
We love the food and the waiters are great. But the atmosphere & location just don't warrant these prices.

Love this place
Da Ciro is a great restaurant! I have been there several times in the past few years, and they are always consistent. I have had the same waiter for years, and that says something. The food is fresh, and you can always count on Pablo for one of the best pizzas in NYC, just ask Bobby Flay!
