    unpleasant

I don't know how this place is described as having "regional Italian cooking." Unless that is, Chef Boyardee and the region of Canned, Tasteless Food is considered the origin of fine dining. Let's start with the prices. I have no issues with spending good money for an excellent meal. Here, your money will not be well-spent. I had the chicken, which was as bland as eating a brown paper bag. Similarly, the people with whom I dined were disappointing with their pasta, which was mushy and covered with what was described as a "ragout"." They should change their menu to described it as Spaghetti with Lumps of Tasteless Slop. As for the service. this was even worse than the food. Our waiter was arrogant and patronizing from the moment we walked in. I suspect this was because we were dining with three adults and one toddler. However, there was no cause for being treated in such a way. We have been dining out with our son since he was a baby, and he has never been allowed to be rude or disruptive in restaurants. He does not climb on tables, scream bloody murder during a meal, or throw food. The simple fact that he was a child seemed to somehow offend him. During our meal, he approached us and snidely told us that we needed to stop our car alarm from going off- a minivan parked out front with a car seat in it. We do not own a mini-van. That was, to be cliche, the last straw. We demanded our check, had our food packed, and left. I called later than evening to speak to a manager, and the waiter was put on the phone and pretended to be the manager. Again, he was rude and confrontational. I don't know why this place is getting good reviews. Living half time in Philadelphia, I can recognize a good Italian restaurant. To be frank, this place sucks. Big time. Between the cost, lack of service, and crappy food, I say try something else. Penelope, which is right up the street, is AMAZING!!

    Excellent food.

Their Focaccia Robiola pizza absolutely rocks. Anyone who loves truffle oil should definitely get involved. My wife and I eat it with a side of marinara and it has kept us coming back for years now. We normally get a pasta and salad to split and leave with full bellies. Honestly, this pizza is the best thing since sliced bread. A must try.

    great

We discovered this place more than 6 years ago. Its our go-to spot for an easy Italian night. There best dish by far is the Robiola pizza with white truffle oil. The minestrone soup is like my grandma's. Its that good. The other two great dishes are the grilled calamari, and all the salads. I find the pasta just ok. A bit overcooked. They really excel at pizza. The wood-burning oven helps I'm sure. The tiramisu is fabulous as well. Prices very reasonable.

    YUM!

The food is soooo good!! My husband and I have been living in the area for two years and never thought of trying Da Ciro. We are so glad we did! We both ordered salads.. he had the ceaser and I had the chopped.. Both were fresh and full of flavor. Then he had the pesto pasta, and I had calamari and shrimp over black linguini. Both were excellent!!!!! We can't wait to go back!

    Fantastic experience

I rarely write reviews of restaurants, but I have been going to Da Ciro's for a few years and I cannot speak highly enough about it. The owner and staff always treat me like family and are extremely accomodating to any requests, even if they are not on the menu. The foccacia robiola is out of this world and I highly recommend it for an appetizer - in fact, I dont think a meal at Da Ciro is complete without it! The specials are always fantastic - always a special risotto and ravioli, and all of the pastas are homemade and delicious. My personal favorite is the black linguine with shrimp, calamari, and scallops - it comes in a slightly spicy sauce and I have yet to find a better dish in the city. The tiramisu is a perfect ending to any meal - it is light and so fresh, its indescribable. I would only recommend that you request an upstairs table - the downstairs can get a bit noisy and sometimes cold in the winter, but if you recommend an upstairs table you will not be sorry. I will continue to frequent Da Ciro's as long as I live in Manhattan!

Best place in NYC for Food & Drinks

I 've been going to DaCiro's for almost 12 yrs. I have never been disappointed once! The atmosphere is always warm and very friendly. The food is always fresh and made to order. The espresso martinis and foccacia is out of this world. I can always count on having a great time when I come to DaCiro's. Its my home away from home. I love DaCiro's like a family because they have always treated me like I was part of theirs.
