    I don't get it????????

I have heard good things.Very confused. The pasta was overcooked and nothing to write home about.I was the last person in the restaurant on a saturday night.walked out at 11:30 because everyone was sweeping and spraying windex everywhere. I will never go back.

    why the raves?

I've eaten at Dan Andrea when it was on Hudson Street and on 13th Street, at its new location. The food is nothing better than average. It certainly is uninspired. I wonder if the people leaving rave reviews for here have ever had very good Italian food. The pastas here are so bland that I could have cooked them, and I do not eat out in restaurants to get and pay for food I could've cooked at home. I will say that Da Andrea is consistent though...consistently mediocre. There are several better Italian restos in the neighborhood. I was hoping that, when they moved, the food would get better, but it didn't.

    My favorite neighborhood Italian

I absolutely love this restaurant. Discovered it when I took my sister for her birthday five years ago and have been coming regularly ever since. Warm, friendly service and great food. It's comfortable and easy. It does get a little loud inside, but that's what you get in a small restaurant. Snagging a table outside when it's nice out is the best way to enjoy this restaurant!

    Da buonissimo!

Went here on a Saturday with my girl friend after a successful day of wedding dress shopping at Saks It must have been 100F+ out there, but regardless we wanted to sit outside, where we were greeted with a smile by the servers and glasses of water were brought to our table. the specials were told, and we decided to go with the traditional caprese (the mozzarella was superfresh) and it all went so well with teh focaccia bread that was soaking up yummy juices. I ordered the spicy sausage pappardelle and my friend ordered the spicy tomato penne. They were BOTH lovely! Definitely recommend either of them. For dessert we topped it off with the bascette of berries zabaionne! sooooo light, and fresh, but yet satisfying that sweet tooth. Loved it! I want to go back to try the squid ink pasta.... from the reviews it sounds delicious

    great food but too crowded!

Delicious pasta, warm and friendly service, wonderful experience - I just wish it wasn't so packed and crowded! Forget taking a date here - you can't hear a word spoken across the table from you.

    Phenomenal

This place is delicious! Traditional and authentic Italian food. Try the squid ink pasta, it's out of this world! (I gave a half star off the rating for food because they unfortunately do not have the traditional squid ink sauce to go with it). The only thing wrong with this place is that it gets very noisy when it's crowded, so I wouldn't recommend it as a first date, unless you go at an off-peak time. But Da Andrea is great! I highly recommend it!

    Amazingly Delicious!

I've been here a couple times now and it has been incredible. I was here last night with my boyfriend. It was our last dinner before he moves to the other coast. He had argued that he wanted to go to an italian place near my apartment in chelsea but I insisted he try this place. We hadn't gone out in months and I wanted to take him here. He said it was one of the best meals, if not the best, he had ever had. We had two appetizers: The mushrroms and gorgonzola, and the procuitto and warm biscuits - soooooo tasty. He devored the mushrooms in about one minute the whole time saying "this is amazing" between bites. For our main course I had the papardelle with bolognese and truffle oil and he had the gnocci. He's gnocci was good but after he tried my paperdelle he couldn't stop eating it. This dish is the best pasta I have EVER had. It's so well balanced in flavor that you can't stop eating it. We finished with some sorbet and gelato and also enjoyed a nice bottle of wine, all bottles very well priced. It was an excellent meal and my bf said he wished I had forced him there earlier so he could have come back before moving. Not only is it excellent food, but great service and very reasonably priced. They do not do reservations under 4 but it's totally worth it. MMM EXCELLENCE.
