I disagree about its being overrun with kids. I'm there almost every Sunday for brunch, and though we've run into the occasional b-day party, it's by far the exception although it is a very kid-friendly place for the neighborhood. Food is always excellent, service and value too. Atmo...well, it IS a pub so at night (or even in the morning if there is a soccer game on), it can get raucous but still worth a visit

We love D6 and have enjoyed many dinners and drinks in the dining room and at the lively bar. But brunch is another story. Although the brunch menu is interesting, the focus at brunch is on childrens' parties, sometimes more than one party at a time (a necessity in these tough economic times). If you like dining amid screaming kids and their entitled parents, and tripping over strollers, then this is the brunch spot for you. By all means dine and drink here at dinner...the chef is inventive, the management is nice as can be, and the service is attentive.

This place is excellent. We've been here many times and the service is continually way above par. The food is fantastic, think gourmet version of pub food at a reasonably affordable price. Great place to come and have dinner and then stick around for drinks after. The bar scene is always lively. If it is genuine friendly service you are looking for as well as great food then definitely check this place out.

Just had a birthday dinner here & was very pleased with the service & food. The manager called beforehand to check on the number of people. It was reassuring to hear that it was okay if some were going to be a bit late. They also added an extra table when more friends than expected arrived. Thirteen of us sat in the dining area on a Friday evening, which was a lot less raucous than the bar/party section on the other side, though still a bit too loud (hence the 4.0 vs. 5.0 for atmosphere). Maybe curtains between the bar & restaurant would help absorb the sound. I had the smoked salmon appetizer, which was excellent, followed by the duck confit with mushroom risotto - small piece of duck, but well-cooked, & really delicious risotto. Others in the group seemed to enjoy their food, too, and the they were able to serve us all at the same time. They also didn't rush us out of there, which is what happens at the trendier upscale restaurants (check out postings on Frank Bruni's NY Times blog). And they gave me a complimentary glass of champagne because they knew it was my birthday, which was a lovely gesture. So if you're looking for a great place for dinner with a large-ish group on a weekend evening, I'd definitely recommend Dublin 6.
