.
I love all types of curry; my wife not so much. But when I introduced her to this spot and she said she loved it too, I was in heaven. Great food. Great service. Great prices. Just don't tell anyone, please let this tiny restaurant be our little secret. Thanks

Comfort Food
Even if your mother didn't make you curry as a child, nothing is quite as comforting as a warm bowl of Japanese curry on a rainy day. And no one delivers quite like CurryYa. It may be expensive, but it is not overpriced.

Best curry in NYC
Best Japanese-style curry i have had outside of Japan by far. High quality ingredients well presented. I eat here at least once a week.

Immaculate, cozy and great salads!
Finally was able to try this place out after hearing so much about it. It's tiny (14 stools along a bar) but immaculately clean. The wait staff very friendly and efficient. And very clean and fancy bathroom. Unfortunately, their main curry dish is made with pork stock (even the vegetable option) so this is not a place for vegetarians. However, I did order the three (cold) salads they had, and all were excellent.

Great Japanese Style Curry!
Home style, stick to your ribs, good ol' fashion Japanese curry. Our seafood curry and fried shrimp curry were flavorful and succulent. My hubbie enjoyed his curry Osakan post-war Beatnik style- with one raw egg in the rice volcano, which enhanced the richness of the curry. Also, they have a nice decor, nice waiters from Osaka, and of course, nice high tech bathroom.

Wanted to like this place, BUT....
I am a longtime faithful of Rai Rai Ken, so when they stopped selling curry to open a curry shop next door, I was excited. Our first attempt to eat there was a bit frustrating but the food was not bad. A bit overpriced for what it was, with exceedingly slow and incompetent service. Second attempt: they told us there was a 30 minute wait (for a counter/bar eatery!) so we decided to order to go. 5 minutes after we ordered to go ( about 8 min after we asked about wait times) 6 people left the restaurant. We were annoyed at the incompetence but decided to just wait for our takeout. More time goes by. Now its been about 20 minutes since we ordered. The server comes outside to tell us that one of the items we ordered, to go tweny minutes before isn't available today. They only have about 10 items on the menu in the first place, and why did she wait 20 minutes to tell us? Geez. We went next door and ate ramen. Hopefully rai rai ken will start carrying curry again.
