    dont beleive all the accolades

not impressed at all with the food. the tandoor chicken was like chewing on a 2 by 4 from home depot. the chicken curry was void of any flavor and not hot. service was prompt but not terribly friendly or enthusiastic. the poori was very good as well as the pampudums , but then again thats not so tough to pull off.

    disappointed, especially in the vegis.

my friends and i adore indian food and frequent the places on lex. we usually go to the vegetarian ones (which are amazing) but one night my friend's boyfriend was craving meat. we chose curry leaf because it serves both and we had all heard it was excellent. big mistake! the waiter seemed pushy. the saag paneer was not delicious and thats usually one of my favorite dishes. the navaratan curry was slightly better than the saag, but still not terrific. i didnt try the meat, but my friend left half of it over. basically, we filled up on rice and poori, and left with stomachaches.. oh well, at least it was cheap.

    Consistency

This food has been consistency delicious every time that I've visited. Very lucky to have it in the neighborhood.

    Try someplace else

The sweet lassi was great, as was the garlic nan. Suprisingly, the saag paneer tasted as if they defrosted some frozen spinach and laid it in a plate. The service was poor to say the least. There were a few people waiting to sit. As we finished our conversation (maybe 5 minutes after we paid). We were asked to move tables to accomodate a couple - this didn't make much sense to me and i felt it quite rude.

    Stomach ache... from OVEREATING!!

This place is the best in the mostly Indian food neighborhood. It is run by the same people who own Kalustyan's grocery store, famous and excellent, up the street at 123 Lexington Ave, where I shop often for Indian spices and grains. An amazing grocery store, and an amazing restaurant, look no further. I found nothing lacking at Curry Leaf, except for my ability to stop eating. Eat at Curry Leaf. Excellent food, good value.

    Consistently good

I have been to this restaurant 4 times now in 2 months and it has been consistently good. The warm atmosphere made it hard for me to leave last time I was there. The restaurant seems to enjoy a faithful following and it usually has a pretty good crowd on weeknights.

    Fabulous inexpensive Indian

Lunch special is the best Indian food value in the City. Delcious tender meats, flavorful, fragrant spicing. Nan is better than Dawat or Tabla. Go here.
