Very good eats, Ok Ambience
Curly's Vegetarian Lunch came recommended to me from a vegetarian/vegan forum. I am vegan, but took an omni date. Firstly, the place looks a little dive-y and it's really tiny inside, which I wasn't expecting. Definitely not a fancy place if you're looking to really impress someone. But the food is soooooo good! And everything (!) can be veganized. I had the buffalo "wings" with VEGAN RANCH. With curly fries. Boy it was delish. Service was on the inattentive side but good enough. Anyway I highly recommend this place even though my omni date couldn't choke down vegan mozzarella.

Great vegetarian food at a good price
The folks who run this place founded Burritoville seventeen years ago. That place was great before they sold it and this place is great too. The food is tasty and unpretentious, the service is good, and the prices are reasonable. Thank goodness there is still a place such as this in New York.

No thanks
I usually don't take vindictive post-dining reviews seriously when I'm reading someone else's. That said, my first experience here was just not good, and it's worth saying. I asked the waitress for her opinion on one of the beers and she looked at me blankly for a minute before replying, "It's beer." After she took our drink orders, she hastily grabbed our menus from us. When we told her that we actually wanted to order food, she smiled and apologized. She was clearly not listening to me when taking my order for food because when she repeated it back to me, she messed it up and I corrected her, and when my food came it was Still not what I ordered. And again, when I wanted to know what the ridiculous name for a fake meat meant, she responded with extreme rudeness. Sorry, but a server's job is to know the menu and help customers out with it-you're supposed to be an expert on what you offer and care about it at least a little. How else can you sell it, and how can a customer feel confident about what they're buying from you? She then grabbed my friend's menu and walked away before even asking if he wanted to order something. I guess the food was a little better than the service. If you like junk food, great, you'll be happy here. I wasn't overly impressed with it, though. Lots of pre-made and frozen things thrown together, albeit with OK presentation, but whatever. I'm over the vegan/vegetarian junk-food thing. Nayonnaise and Boca crumbles don't impress me, even with red bell pepper blended in. It's a shame that the space itself is really cute. I liked the open front and the painted wood floors and all the drawings from other customers. But I won't be going back to enjoy the nice ambiance againunless I want dessert and there is a different waitstaff there.

Great cozy comfort food!
I loved this place! I had the vegan wings, which I had been craving and these fit the bill perfectly. Also had a soy shake which was wonderful and unfortunately filled me up so I couldn't finish the equally-amazing meatloaf! Quirky pictures on the wall and laid-back service, I loved it!

overrated
I have ordered from Curly's on numerous occasions, but tonight was the last straw. I keep ordering, hoping that I will finally get something decent to eat, but am continually disappointed. It's too salty, too sweet, or just not tasty. I would only recommend this place for vegans or vegetarians who are desperate for something suitable for their diet. Otherwise, there are plenty of other better places for the carnivores in NYC.

thirsty
the food is pretty good, but beware when ordering delivery.. they tend to forget to send everything you paid for.

Great Grub!
Was in New York over Paddy's Day 2008. I was staying on the Upper West Side but had found this place on the internet before I went. Was a bit out of the way but Iwanted to make sure I went at least once before I left. I got the crab fakes and and avacado and jack burger. It was absolutely delicious so I made sure I went back a second time before we left. Next time I'm on holiday from Ireland I'll be sure to call again!
