i kept eyeing this place a while after hearing the reviews and eventually we made it last week. it was very good service. even though i changed me order the host was kind enough tell the cook staff personally instead of calling over our waiter to take care of the change. the monk fish was very good. i would have it again

It was a bit overcrowded with tables and there was an awful underground rumbling of what I believe were trains passing (it was a bit unnerving). . .The fish stuffed with tiny shrimp and crab stuffing not lump meat was not what I expected. I was nervous eating it due to the millions of tiny bones within. My girlfriend had shrimp with black pasta which she enjoyed, but I don't like the anise flavoring. . .I enjoyed the wine and the antipasta salad. Their calamari was heavily breaded and overfried.

I live across the street and have been eating at cucina for years. It is fantastic! The value cant be beat. The food is great- theyre are so many trendy east village italian places that are over crowded and pricey, but cucina is just hands down better and easier on the wallet. all the dishes are delicious! The service here is the kind you dream about. the staff is superb, the food is so good and you never ever leave hungry. the veg lasagna and pumkin ravioli are my favorites. they do a steak special that is great too- its awesome, all the pasta dishes are very fresh and flavorful. the deserts are also delicious. The early bird special rocks. wine, soup, salad and entree for cheap. the place is large so its rarely over crowded. candle lit and cozy, an great date restaurant when you want ambiance frankly id gladly pay more for their scrumtous food and beautiful restaurant. the only suggestion id have for them would be to expand the menu a little.

As a recommendation from my boss, I decided to try this restaurant despite the frighteningly cheap prices. During the entire meal, my girlfriend and I were anxious and frankly a little scared about each course that came out, anticipating for it to be horrible. I imagined myself saying, "You get what you paid for.." but I was completely surprised. The food was above average and the service was excellent. Our wine glasses never went below half full before a server would pop out of nowhere to refill it. I might be exaggerating slightly but I think there was one server for each patron there. The food was prepared with care and cooked to perfection.

My boyfriend and I have been eating there for every occasion. Loved the chicken sorrentina and chicken parmesana. However, this past New Year's I've had a terrible experience there. THey look down upon us because we're not old like the rest of the ppl eating there. They changed from the garlic bread, which was really yummy to the plain bread, which was also a big disappointment. I am sorry to say that I am not planning on eating there again because of my dissatisfaction last time.

We went back and we were not disappointed! The food was just as fantastic as when we were last there. Consistently great food, romantic ambiance and efficient service...all for a great price. We love this place!
