    Quick, inexpensive & tasty

My husband and I were looking for a quick place for dinner before a movie and lucked out at Cubana. Despite mixed reviews we figured we'd try it, and I'd definitely recommend it - but I say go early - it's a very small restaurant and looks like it gets really crowded at prime dinner hours. The seafood ceviche appetizer was killer, and we saw some other people eating some killer apps as well. Both of us enjoyed our main courses, and found them simple, yet satisfying. We do agree with the commentor who criticized the black beans - they were strangely tasteless, and would definitely have benefited from some adobo or something. I ate the pounded grilled chicken with fresh mango, and I'd suggest it to anyone looking for a healthy meal - not heavy at all!

    Just not good at all

The place is cute, if small, but the food is just not good. I liked the tostones, but everything else was poor. Even the rice was not good. Black beans tasted like they had been poured straight out of a can. Cheap, yes, but still not worth it.

You must try the mango martini!

My husband and I have been to the Cubana Cafe numerous times and have never been disappointed. I have also taken several friends there who loved it. Yes, it is crowded but it is a very small restaurant. I love the colors and the music. The mango martini is to die for! It is a great neighborhood place for brunch.

    my go to place

this place is awesome - the best mojitos in the city and make sure to have the roasted corn appetizer, it is delish and comes with a killer chipotle mayo sauce. stick with pulled pork or ropa vieja here. yes, it's crowded, but that is part of it's charm. the waiters are great too. you won't be dissapointed if you're expecting a fun, casual meal.

    not great at all

Unofortunately this BK outpost is lacking, the cute atmosphere and generally reliable staff have never made up for food that is just not that good, the rice and beans, staples, are bland and dry. the cuban sandwich is among the worst items at almost 9 dollars when the roast pork across the street at Nueva Portal is ten times better.

    Great!

I have to say that after living with two Cuban roommates and eating Cuban almost every night this place definitely lives up to my expectations. I love everything about it, the food the atmosphere, etc. This place is definitely one of my favorites!

    Eh

I dated a Cuban for quite a while and always loved going to authentic Cuban restaurants. Cuban food is amazing! So I was thrilled to see this restaurant pop up in the neighborhood. Sadly, It is nothing like the Cuban food I have come to expect. And I'm not expecting anything fancy, just deliciously tasty (and usually cheap) food. I agree with another reviewer. This food has no flavor. With all of the other great restaurants up and down Court and Smith, don't waste your time.
