The food at cubana is decent if overpriced, but we used to order all the time. Today we ordered via Seamless as usual. We live in the fourth floor, and the intercom doesn't work. So the delivery guy rings once. Within 30 seconds I am on my way, then he rings again, then rings a third time as I'm by the second floor. All of them were unnecessarily annoying long. I would have let that one slip, if it weren't for what followed: The guy was with his phone in his hands, about to dial, and the food was on the floor in the soaked wet, puddled welcome mat. And when I asked him why he put the food in the floor, he said - as he was picking it up - that he had not put it on the floor! When I asked him to call back to report the incident, he insisted he didn't know the number and was calling a co-worker. I then pointed out the seamless slip had the number and he called. Then, I got back to my apartment and called to follow, the guy who answered was rude and said there was no supervisor! And then, as I was asking to cancel, rather than a return (no way I was going to eat drain-water soaked food) , the guy hung up on me. Then I called back to cancel, and they hung up on me again! Finally by the third time they told me to call seamless. This restaurant lost a regular customer. Thankfully there are other modern latino places that deliver opening up.

While the food is not unappetizing, it is a little on the unimpressive side and sadly does not make up for the delivery and service problems. We only ordered from this place a couple of times and the latest will probably be our last. It took them an hour and a half to get the food to us and I have reason to believe they didn't even start making our order until I called in an hour after ordering to see what was going on. I tend not to appreciate when I am being lied to (I was told that the order has already left the kitchen but will take upwards of 30 minutes to get to us - how is that a reasonable thing, a full hour after the order was made?) and would rather have my dinner before 10:30PM. Needless to say we will not be ordering from these guys again.

I had the chicken soup. Wonderful! All kinds of ingredients. My friend had the pancakes. Again, delicious! My other friend had eggs florentine. He loved it. No complaints about the food. Atmosphere is interesting, especially the painting of the women with cigars. Not a fancy place, somewhat informal. I was happy there.

Cubana Cafe is adorable. The food is delicious, the ambience is lively, and your meal is served in mere minutes (even when the restaurant is packed)! A must-see on Smith st.

i ate there once, and i just got delivery tonight. i do not go here looking for fresh, exotic cuisine. i go here because they have yummy, cheesy cuban foods that i crave once in a while. if you are like me, ignore those bad reviews, and try this place. I really like it. Occasionally try the empanadas, they are always different, and really nice and hot. my favorite thing altogether is the pork quesadilla with cheese and onions. (be sure to order the one i said, and not the other pork quesadilla on the menu) bye!

Unfortunately, some of the earlier reviews are correct. The food is a bit bland in comparison to other Cuban restuarants. I ordered a mango chicken dish and the chicken was DRY and not seasoned well. My date also ordered a chicken dish that was just as bland. The only thing that had any taste was the plaintain chips. There could be other items on the menu that are flavorful, but I was not impressed enough to plan a return.
