Great Cuban food experience!
Ok, let’s start with the atmosphere/vibe of all Luis Skibar owned restaurants: clean/neat , festive/lively, chatty - a good thing (dislike quiet places – don’t get me wrong, you can have a perfect romantic evening here and hear each other’s conversation!), warm/inviting and romantic all rolled into one! The food is outstanding, The chef has kept the high standards every day – consistently. Very generous portions! The staff do their duties to the upmost, but also have fun and can mingle. Happy employees make for a happy restaurant and impeccable service. Now,the best bartender, excuse me, mixologist is one of the best in NYC. He is passionate and dedicated to everything he is creating from scratch using the freshest of ingredients. Come a little early before having dinner or after or come in just to experience some of the great tropical drinks that are offered year round, at his bar. The sangria and mojitos are some of the best in all of NYC. The wait staff are all great. My wife and I try a different dish each time we come there. PS The live musicians are an added plus!

Great atmosphere on weekends!!
The music mixed with nice service and good food makes this place very enjoyable. The only problem is that it gets too crowded and the bar is so small. The food is good, though, I wish it looked more fresh.

Will go back
As soon as I stepped in the place I thought it was small but they have so much room in the back. The drinks that I choose were not that good. The Mojito way had to much lime and the Ultimate Mojito was a disaster, the Sangria I had better. The food was excellent it made up for the drinks. I had the Oxtails which the waiter recommended, and my friend had the Suckling Pig. I honestly could of order another Oxtail to take home because is was good. The entire atmosphere was nice, it was very intimate. The band was a very nice touch just a little loud because you either had to talk loud so your party can hear you or lean over the table to be heard. The waiter was very attentive. Will I go back? YES

Want REAL empanandas?
Went for NYE... Hassle free reservations. Before 8pm they offered regular menu and the pre fix. Waiter was awesome! Food was Delish!!! When the empanadas came out- (when ordered the beef and the spinach with cheese), I got excited that they were real, just like my abuela makes an even with the fork pressing! Brought a tear to my eye. They were yummmmy!!! My fiancé got the filet mignon wrappes in bacon and served with potato and spinach, oh my god! Better than our favorite steak house (it should be on the reg menu!) I ordered the vaca frita, yuuuuummmm! Sangria, smooth, cold and tasty! The molten rum cake with pistacio ice cream... Wow! And last but not least, live Cuban band and the staff has so much fun dancing too! It was a blast!!! Would come here again with a group of people.

Great Food
Went for the first time with my wife. The reservation was at 7.30 pm but we walked in at 7 pm and they accommodate us immediately. The table available was downstairs. Nice ad cozy table in the corner of the room. The room was set up “ Bistro style “ with table very close to each other. The only issue with that we had a birthday party next to us of 16 people and after we ordered our dinner we were asked to move because they need our table for the party. Understanding the situation we moved (Near the service station). Here is what we ordered: Beef Empanadas, Tamarind Calamari, Roba Vieja and the Mahi Mahi. I think that they may need to change the frying oil a little more often because the flavor of the calamari and empanadas were pretty much the same beside the sauce that accompanied the dish. The Roba Vieja and the Mahi Mahi were very good dishes. The service attentive in the beginning, but average. Bus boy more attentive than the server in refilling the drinks. Overall nice experience, good food, but before making the reservation make sure that not party are near you….You will be not able to communicate with your friends.
